i'm leaning toward either tacking a cone style frost plug on the cable mount lever at the fuel pump, to disperse the contact pressure, or splicing a two or three inch piece of pipe into the hose where contact occurs, or both. a coating of bed liner or something similar on the frost plug would prevent rattling.

i think once you start going to larger diameter in a situation like that, you compound the problem. going to smaller diameter, by using a piece of pipe, would serve to move the hose over just a little bit and give some more room without changing anything else.

i think i'll go with the pipe mod first, then see what happens.:)
The mods will probably work, but with the extent of this problem..............I personally think Massey will have a recall and redesign the bracket/lever assembly.

Wire ties/extra hose/metal pipe............will only last so long, IMHO

i agree, it's easy to fix it sitting at the computer:)

i think i'll get the replacement hose first, then try working to salvage the one i have. the weather is starting to break so something is bound to happen.

I've put a 'wire tie' around mine.............but it's already done significant damage to the hose(waiting on dealer now), but at least I can use my tractor for now...............thanks to Wacky for the heads up .

I checked my coolant hose and yes I also have the same issue on the lower part. However, My tractor is not one of the "listed" ones. So i called my dealer and told him. He said they didnt call me because i was not one of the one listed. But I told him I have the same issue and I suspect everyone does. So I zip tied it back and problem solved. Lucky for me it only made a indentation into the hose so far and not wore into the threads. Good catch... Thanks Jeff:thumbsup:

First, thanks SO MUCH for the heads up on these 2 issues, the steering cylinder mounting bracket and the lower hose. With 150 hours on my 2410TLB, I called my dealer to set up a service and ask him about these issues. I have a JUC00XXX and found the hose issue just as you directed us to look for. Couldn't tell if the bracket was wrong.
The service manager was excellent and assured me that he would take care of both issues while he had it in his shop and it would all be coverd by MF warranttee. They came and picked it up 3 days later and I got it back the next day, no charge for the pickup and return. The driver was also the mechanic who did the work. He showed me that he had replaced the lower hose and tied it back much better and away from the throttle. He also explained that the steering bracket was indeed installed incorrectly and he corrected that as well. I like my "BIG RED MACHINE" clean so he had also wiped all the grease points down after lubing them the way I had done it myself. Thoughtful and proffesional!
As a side note, I also saw a thread on the tie-straps on the stabilizer hydraulic hoses somewhere in this forum and removed them as noted in that thread. More good advice from the network of owner experts!

Thanks!

My dealer sent the mechanic to my house on Monday and he too care of the steering cylinder mount and the coolant hose. They also replace one of my front tires that had a slow leak around the bead and also replaced a grease zerk that I broke on the loader...all no charge. So far I am very happy with my decision to go with the MF and the dealer. The fact that they are almost an hour away has had no negative effect on my experience so far.

Checked my hose in January and it was about 1/4 inch away from rubbing.:) Check it today and the hose is now rubbing. Tie wrapped it back and will get a hold of the dealer. If anyone check their hose and it was not rubbing, I would suggest you check it again.

Here are some pics:

Does the campaign notice you rec'd have a number associated with it? I checked my hose and it is worn in approx. 1/8-inch so I need to contact the dealer and would like to have as much info. as possible when I call.

This reminds me of when some of the original 2300's had the excess end of the throttle cable left too long. It would poke the upper radiator hose until it leaked.

Just happened to my GC2300 last week. . I am waiting for the new hose to arrive for replacement. I simply bent the excess throttle cable into a loop, with a pair of needle nose pliers, to reduce the likelihood of recurrence.
