Got a "yucky" story?

When working for a dairy farmer years ago I made an observation that I put in my memory banks. I have seen the cows cough while going and hit the wall about 8 feet behind them. I always gave them plenty of room.

I was really sick once and threw up while driving. It was sudden so I had a choice, barf all over the inside of the car or put my legs together and do it straight down in my lap. It got all over my pants and clothes but luckily not on the seat. I had to pull over in a quiet area, clean as best I could, strip down and sit on a newspaper and drive home naked :)shocked:). Luckily I was in a van and nobody could really see me. When I got home the neighbor lady had half the darned neighborhood out in her yard for a social so I had to drive across my lawn right to the door of the house so they would not see me when I got out.

The funniest part is right after it happened I was very peeved and was speeding home. Then I realized I'd better slow down for fear of getting pulled over!

I have a bunch of them.

Shearing sheep. Acutally, doing setup for the shearer. The heat, the smell, the maggots, the lanolin - the worst job I have ever had.

I learned at an early age to keep my mouth shut when hosing down the gutters in the barn.

Cleaning the chicken house. You only clean them in between batches. They say that you can smell it miles away.

Building a loafing shed over a dairy feed lot, the ladder slipped and I landed flat on my back in six inches of green manure. At least I didn't land on my face.

As far as bad smells go - Extricating the decayed remains of an old homeless fellow who had died in his car where he lived. Through inquiry I found out from the bartender where he cashed his social security checks that he had not been seen at his daily liquor stop for 6 or 7 days. The inside of a closed car in August will cook 'em just like a roast in an oven. The fat runs right through the upholstery & the seat has to be unbolted to remove the body at the morgue. Want me to tell you about some of the gross things I've seen?

We had one of those. A guy shot himself in his car along a back road in the summer. He wasn't found for a few weeks. The towing company towed the car to the morgue and they took care of it from there. I wasn't on that one, but I heard that they basically poured the guy out of the car into a body bag.

...The gasses in sewer will detiorate concrete and especially mortar...

Curly Dave will know for sure but I would guess this is because of the lime in masonry cement (mortar)...?

This doesn't need to turn in to a contest of who has experienced the most traumatic moment. Something gross, such as puking on yourself, compared to what happens to a person in a closed up car during the summer, are different things. Perhaps admin should close this thread down as it doesn't really contribute to rural living. Humans can be extremely nasty, lets not dwell on it.

As a sales rep, spiffy in dress shirt and tie, stopped to use the 'facilities' in a large departement store as I needed (urgently) to relieve myself.
Being well raised, I naturally flushed when finished.
The toilet somehow exploded and spewed a gusher that soaked all my front side.
When I located the store manager to try to find some help to make me somewhat presentable as I was in such a mess that I did not dare even sitting in my car.
Heck, I would have settled for some old rags or anything to be able to sit on my car seat.

The totally negative response, ridicule and lack of plain curtisy angered me to the point that I actually sent a registered letter to the president of that chain which resulted in a healthy settlement in way of peace offering.

Years ago I was a Journeyman Lineman on a construction crew and one hot day one of the young guys was feeling the effects of his partying the night before. He was drier than a popcorn fart and hadn't bothered to bring enough to drink. When another crew truck pulled up, he went looking for something more to drink, and the only thing he found was an open quart of milk, partially consumed. He never bothered to check to see if it was still good of course, he just upended it and started to pour it down his throat. The only problem was that it had been sitting in the heat for days already!:licking::D

Around 76' or 77', the company I was driving for had at least a dozen dump trailers hauling deep mined salt off the docks at Port Newark, NJ to several municipalities around north jersey, NYC, out on the island, etc. for highway use.

Anyone who has ever made deliveries in this area might agee with me that as a truck driver, you seem to have to deal with an extrordinarily large number of people that act like they had a rather bad dish of wheaties for breakfast.

Often as not, the high sides of the trailer offered the most privacy for taking care of business. One day, one of the guys took a dump in his dump.

The guy recieving the loads at his next stop was particularly crabby about getting an occasional lump or two in the loads. The bills signed, this guy then runs over and grabs this apparent lump of salt that had rolled to the base of the pile....
