I just aquired a 70A and there is some goofy stuff going on with the oil lines on the cross tube. Can someone with a 70 or 70A post up a pic of the oil lines so I can compare to what's on mine?

Thanks....

Mech, can you post pictures of yours? Have you looked in JDParts?

Yes, that's exactly what I needed. I really wish people that don't know what the **** they're doing would just stick their hands in their pockets and walk away.

Kennyd,
I'll try to get some pics.... but it might be a few days. Basically, it looks like someone damagage the hard lines and then tried to "repair" it by replacing them lines that aren't quite the right application. So, they are all bent around in crazy angles and just looks like a "baling wire & duct tape" fix. Then, someone did it again... it look like they wrapped a chain or something around the cross tube to either lift something with the loader or lift the loader itself and all four of the oil lines are crushed flat in that spot.

I did check the JDParts, but with the exploded view it is hard to tell how that are all arranged and "packaged" on the cross tube. Also, looking at JDParts, they want $135/each for the "Short Oil Line". :confused2: At those prices, I would almost be better off to through the loader away and buy a new one.

I just got off the phone with a local hydraulic shop that does tube bending, hose repair, etc. I described to them what I had and he told me no problem... we can probably even do that for you while you wait. So, when I get a chance, I'm going to pull the lines off the tractor and take them to the shop to be repaired.

Bet I know what happened because I did it to my 80A loader cross tube lines.

If you use the JD front suitcase weights on the front weight bar, they can interfere with the oil lines when raising the loader frame. The lines get pinched and crimped and that's a problem.

I modified the front weight bar to get it closer to the radiator. My lines are still a bit smooshed, but the price is too high to replace them.

I suppose the suitcase weight theory is a possibilty. Two of the lines look like the weights could have caused the damage. The other two lines look like they were used as training aid in a blacksmith class!

I did notice an interesting difference between the oil lines in JD755's picture and the oil lines on my loader. If you look at the T fitting in JD755's pic, you can see that the fitting block is made onto both sides of the oil line making it a one piece line. On my loader, the fitting block is only made onto one side and the other side attaches with a threaded fitting.

This is fortunate for me, since I only need to replace the part of the lines along the cross tube that are damaged. This will be quite easy for the hydraulic shop to make. Why, for Pete's sake, some knuckle head felt compelled to bend the **** out two of the lines and then put a dog-leg in two of the cross tube lines to meet up with the contorted lines is completely beyond me.

I am going to try my best to bend those two lines back into their original shape and just have new cross tube lines made up at the hydraulic shop.

Mech,

Do you want some photos of the lines on my 955?
