I have been working on a cure for the sudden stop on the 50 series and would appreciate an answer to these questions from someone who has a 60 series.

When backing up and you, the operator move the trundle to neutral quickly am I safe in presuming you will also get the abrupt stop?

From full speed reverse at around 2700 RPM how long in time and or distance does it take to stop? Is there any significant difference in time or and or distance forward Vs reverse. I would expect longer forward since the travel speed is higher...

TIA

The tinkering one

The stop is more abrupt than on the early BX but not bone jarring, wheel raising like the 50 series. I never really checked stopping distance like you are asking.

Full speed in reverse ( c 3200rpm ) can go 4 feet . I only do
this on the flat lawn and thin grass sections when I can't be
bothered turning around for short runs. Even at very slow speeds
and revs , it can go 6 - 12inches. Good for reversing the 3pt in the
garage wall
Forcing a peddle movement will instigate an immediate and unpleasant
response . I've accidentally done this instead of hitting the brake .
The forward stop is similar . I'm happy with the setup characteristics.
I must declare that I run a bungee around the peddle , to hold
the deck plastic flap up . This may slow response , but I didn't
notice a difference when removed .........

yes/no..They had issues (pedals) with creeping(moving) on the early BX.Then it was the jerking stop on the bx23/24....

The creeping never bothered me. Adjust the return properly and keep it clean and all is well.

If it creeps a bit just bump the pedal to center it.

By the way the 50 & 60 series both creep a bit at certain times too.

thanks Orange ridge,
this was the info I was looking for. I have my 1850 so that it takes about 7 - 8 feet and i was concerned this was to slow. It is smooooth though. These runs where with ambient temps around 20 degrees F so not sure how much it will change when warm.

Don't know if this helps you, but I took the spring out of the hinge on my deck flap thingie, & now I can just flip it up or down as needed, with no bungee needed.
