When was the last time you went to buy shoes somewhere like Cavenders and the sales clerk never even measured your feet to see the size? In the last few years it's been hard to even see a foot measure tool or whaterver it's called much more than a salesman ask you to sit down and measure your foot. Spend some time and make sure the shoe or boot is comftorable.

That's no joke. Last one I saw was at the redwing store. (FWIW, it's call a brannock device, I googled it)

Well, once you hit about 18 you should remember your own shoe size!

What I find interesting is the lack of size standards. When I was 14 I was all of 4' 9" with size 13 feet. :cool2: It was kind of hard to knock me over, if you know what I mean!

I am now 6' and still have size 13 feet. However, for the last 25 years I have been fitting nicely into 12s. In the last year, however, 12s are too small and some 13s are too small. Last week I went to a shoe store with my wife and I bought a pair of 12s that fit and 14s that fit! :confused2:

I think that's why you don't see too many of the sizing devices anymore.... they do not correspond to the shoes in the store!

Have you looked at Zippos shoes? I bought men's slippers on sale delivered to my door for $31 a pair on sale.

Bought a pair of shoes at Dillards a few months ago and has my foot measured for the first time in many years.

I have wide feet, 5E, and shoes always hurt for the first few months until they broke down. I found Hitchcock Shoe in Hingham MA several years ago. I measured my feet per their instructions and despite what shoe salesmen told me for years I actually learned my correct shoe size. New shoes from Hitchcock fit like my favorite slippers from day one.

My employer just brought in two Redwing trucks for a week to supply everyone with safety shoes to comply with a new corporate mandate. Their salesmen measured my feet, apparently they don't think I could possible know my size since all their Chinese shoes are Euro sized. None of their junk shoes fit so I walked away empty handed. My high class employer's safety dept says take the shoes we provide or buy your own!

There's no need to measure feet in a "one size fits all world"!!! And no salesman is going to measure your feet & tell you he has nothing to sell. MikeD74T

My Great Danes were like that when they were pups, four HUGE feet with a dog attached.:)

I think if you need special fit and sizes, I'd look at shopping at SAS (San Antonio Shoes) or a Red Wing store.

That's due to the junk they bring in from China and India (and other 3rd world countries).
