Something I need suggestions on. Getting tired of switching 3pt implements on M-7040. Does anyone have suggestions for CAT-2 quick hitch? Following implements will be used:

John deere MX-8 mower
Woods 8' power angle rake
Landpride 8' power rake
Agrex cone type spreader.

Doesn't Pat's Quick Hitch come in a cat -2?

Yes, Pat's has a Cat 1, a Cat 2, and a Cat 2 to 1 when I last checked.

The M7040 has those extendable lower links that help out on hookups. A T&T does wonders as well. Granted a Pat's would be nice but the the "Top" of the T&T would have to be extended 4" or so somehow.

I have too many Cat 1 implements to justify a Pat's Cat 2. I'd be continually getting off the tractor to put on adapter bushings. Lining up a Cat 2 to a Cat 1 is not that easy either.

If you have a regular top link it can be cut apart with a pipe cutter (or torch) and a 4" piece of pipe welded in to make an extended top link. Did it for a Cat 1 so a Cat 2 should be the same. Those long Cat 2 top links don't come cheap.

Builder, do you have a top and tilt set on the M7040? I would say that if you started out with that (this is assuming you do not have them) that you would be pretty happy with how much easier hook up would be. But ultimately for someone that is in business and constantly changes implements, the Delta Hook would be the way to go. As you know, time is money and I don't think that any other hitch is as quick as the Delta Hook.

Just want to be clear here, I have nothing to do with the Delta Hook, don't even have one. :(

Delta hook looka great, but $1,400 + shipping is a used haybine or another implement price. Just can't swing it right now.

I don't know why, but the pat's system looks a bit "mickey mouse" to me. Just doesn't look like it'd hold up to heavy cat-2 implements like my MX or my power rake......

Go get a Harbor Freight quick hitch, only $140 and you can check it out. Same as John Deere I Match and many others. May not be quite as good of build quality, but you get what you pay for and at least you will get an idea if you want to go that way without a big investment.

I have a LandPride Cat-II Quick Hitch ( Land Pride Quick Hitches ).

The webpage is a little misleading with the Category, however the QH15 is Cat-I and the QH20 is Cat-II.

I think it is a fine quick hitch, however here are four reasons why mine just sits in the garage and has never been used after I first tried it out:

My implements are on dolly because of lack of garage space. This makes hooking up implements real easy.

By design, you cannot get the same amount of "float" with the top-link connection. In mowing situations, this causes problems. I bent my top support brackets on my mower because the tail-wheel needed to come up but the quick-hitch maxed out its range of motion way too soon. (There is a floating top link kit you have to buy (which I have) in order to have ANY toplink movement, however its range of motion is too little.)

I have three implements: Mower (Cat-I / Cat-II); Grading Scraper (Cat-II); Ballast Box (can be setup for Cat-I or Cat-II before filling with concrete, after that you can't change it easily). The QH does not work with the Ballast Box... and that is the only implement that is hard (not really hard, just harder than the others) to hook up.

My lower links easliy telescope and swing. Hooking up really isn't that hard.

I will sell my QH to whomever wants it. Haven't found anyone close by that wants it yet. :)

I was just getting ready to ask about something like the Land Pride. I have two sets of PATS that I have not even installed yet as I don't often change implements.
