Tractor
Massey Ferguson Model 65
I just had a rear rim crumble where the air valve is located. A piece the size of a soup can lid disentegrated when adding air. I am having trouble finding a rim for the tractor. The tire size is 14.9-28. There is a matched set on the tractor. The rims are the expandable type. Any suggestions? I am in Massachusetts. I have one Massey Ferguson dealer looking (Whately, MA, NH and Maine) but am open for suggestions. I'm guessing I should buy a pair of rims and tires since they seem to be originals (1963).

Also, The carburator started running best at 1/4 choke. I've cleaned it, the fuel line, filter and removed all sediment from the tank. Suggestions here would be helpful as well.

Thanks,

Artie

What type of center is the rim I know where a few are but need to know which style you have.

The center could be the old disck screw type with slots in the rims or flat and direct bolt on spin out rims.

28x12 4 Rail Power Adjust

This is what I found. (see Hey wheel link above) A Neighboring farmer said I could use a 28 X 12 or 28 X 13 rim with the 15.9 tire. I confirmed this with my local tire guy. The center disk is held to the rim rails in 4 locations and locked on one rail only. The center disk was held to the axle with 8 lug nuts on 5/8" diameter studs.

Question: Fill tires with Calcium again? Or is there another alternative "now a days"?

Thanks.

I meant 14.9 - 28 on the tire size NOT 15.9.

I had new tires put on my 65 20 years ago and had the same problem. At that time we were able to weld a patch on rim and then grind it down, 20 years later and no problems although I was taking the fluid out anyway. Also rebuilt my carb. at same time marvel schebler TSX695 made a world of difference.
