I'm torn between wanting to do more work on clearing an area where I plan on putting in a pond or being nice to a couple of neighbors that are waiting for this weekend. You see, it's opening weekend of rifle hunting for deer where my weekend place is located in the woods.

If I get in there with the tractor and work all day I'm sure to drive the deer away from the area or at least get them skittish.

I use the word hunting, but I consider it harvesting since the common method here is to use feeders. If deer are conditioned to follow a pattern of visiting a feeder every day it's harvesting. I consider hunting to be going out and trying to take game that is following it's natural pattern. I know there is still luck needed to take deer using a feeder and with small properties that is pretty much the only way to get them on your property to harvest. I really have nothing against it, I just don't find a thrill in doing it and neither do some of my neighbors. But a few do.

Anyway, as much as I'd like to go get some work done; I guess I'll wait at least till next weekend. I know this was kinda off topic but I just needed to rant about not being able to use my B7300. Especially since I just put on R1s to try and get more traction over the turfs I had on it.

I deer hunt on a property where the land owner is cutting and hauling wood right beside where I'm hunting. Using equipment doesn't spook deer much if at all in my experience, I've shot deer within 5 minutes of him hauling a load of wood by me.

Same here. I have seen deer many, many times while on the tractor. They seem more skittish when we're walking around the property than when I'm on the Kubota.

Yea, you guys may be right. I've seen them from the seat of my tractor also. Most times they just look up to see what's happening and then go right back to feeding.

My neighbors are going to have a tough time this year anyway. There are LOTS of acorns on the ground.

They seem used to the tractor sounds, but shut it down and watch them look!

I agree with the others posting...I have seen deer stand and watch me while I am bush hogging...They are curious and once, I hate this but I actually ran over a new born fawn with the bush hog and the Doe was just standing 30 feet or so away as I made my pass...So if I were you I would go right ahead and if anything the noise your tractor makes will draw their attention. I think they are accustomed to farm noises .

I agree they seem to like the tractor sounds, maybe there comforted by knowing where your'e at. As far as the feeders go, I use them, but if I didn't then I wouldn't see deer. Everyone surrounding my property have 4-8 of them set up to keep deer on site for the weekend warriors.

Taken while bush hogging. She's only about 100'-125' away. I've seen her & her two young many times while bush hogging, & "if" they run it's never very far, just trying to get out of sight.

I would work with the tractor.... It will give them an excuse why the feeder isn't working for them :)

The deer and occasional pheasant that hang around in my yard won't even move out of the way when I'm mowing. If I step off the tractor, they're gone like a shot.

Weird. Their little brains just don't relate that noisy machine to a threat.
