I agree with the others posting...I have seen deer stand and watch me while I am bush hogging...They are curious and once, I hate this but I actually ran over a new born fawn with the bush hog and the Doe was just standing 30 feet or so away as I made my pass...So if I were you I would go right ahead and if anything the noise your tractor makes will draw their attention. I think they are accustomed to farm noises .

I know the feeling... in our development of a few houses we have about 600 acres of crep land with trails/woods/etc. Me and a buddy were atving and I noticed he wasn't behind me anymore so I turned around. Turns out a baby fawn had jumped out in front of his ATV! He was going about 30 and it either knocked him out or killed him... I felt my heart in my throat and he felt worse... So I made him pick it up and get it off the trail... lol..

In our yard which is about 2 acres of yard and another 3 of woods and hills, we get deer all the time... especially in the winter. Bucks too (saw what was at least a 10 point last winter). I don't hunt, but I texted my neighbors that do and while they were excited, season was over. :( All I wanted out of the deal was jerky and venison steaks.. lol

I don't think the tractor work bothering the deer would be much of a concern to me if I were hunting nearby. What would bother me is the noise the tractor makes not allowing me to hear the deer.
Nothing is more irritating to me than being in my stand bow hunting and someone fire up a chainsaw up on the mountain. I guess I am just spoiled by not living anywhere near people and their noises. lol.

My bigger worry would be that some idiot wouldn't make sure that the area behind the deer they were was shooting at was clear and hit me, not the deer.

OK, I guess I'll not worry about the tractor and chainsaw noises I'll be making. Like "teg" said, it will give some of the hunters an excuse why they weren't successful.

The closest hunter is a few hundred yards away through thick woods and I happen to know he sits facing a feeder in the opposite direction (although it's no guarantee of my safety). I still might wait though, let the buck fever of opening weekend disappear. I've seen some hunters in local restaurants that seem to be really carried away the first weekend. They've dreamed about opening weekend for a few months and they act like they can't contain themselves; they just have to shoot something.

I know I'm going to regret this...

I don't hunt, but I used to do a lot of spearfishing. I'm not against the blood sports, by any means, but some of the "sportsmen", that's another deal.

I've got about 150 acres in the dead center of nowhere where we grow trees and one of the local tribes works on fish habitat. Not long after I bought it 20 years ago someone tore down the gate during hunting season. While the gate was open!

I put in a serious gate of the kind the timber companies use. Someone took a torch to the posts, hooked up a truck to snap the concrete in the posts, and dragged the whole $1500 mess a mile up the road.

I replaced the gate and added a sign that said "if you respect the land, I'll open the gate during hunting season." You guessed it: the sign and the gate were destroyed that season.

As soon as the tribe finishes their habitat work, I'm going to just decommission the road. I'll be bleeped if I'm going to let anonymous vandals run my property for me.

I know nobody reading this would commit that kind of vandalism, and I also know there's not really any way to stop the d-bags.

It doesn't take many like that to ruin things for the landowners _and_ the responsible hunters.

There. I feel better. A little.

I'd want to vent if some ****** was doing that to my property. Its amazing what some people can justify in their minds. Whoever is doing this probably thinks you are the one in the wrong.

Ever thought about putting up some motion-activated game cameras in an inconspicuous spot? Who knows, you might catch a license plate number.

Most of these shots were taken from the tractor. We moved from the city so it's been fun to watch all the wildlife. The best is watching the babies. Fawns and fox kits play out in the yard like puppies. After watching them, I would have a hard time hunting one.

Actually, your future relationship with your neighbors depends on what they think, not what the deer do.

Whether they have success or failure, you will be considered a "good guy" if you casually mention that you did not run the tractor opening weekend.

Now if they tell you to go ahead because the noise attracts deer, then you know. Otherwise they are going to blame any failure on your and your tractor, while any success is due to their own great skill...

If you are on the tractor and a deer comes by this weekend make sure you are not in line with the rifle and the deer. Don't want to see you get shot by being in the line of fire since your tractor attracts deer! Good thing it is Kubota Orange! Another benefit of not driving JD green! Might blend in with the trees and grass. Philip

Yeppers.... but you might want to play ateam and have some bullet shields!
