So I just finished cutting a small pasture with my M-7040. Customer asked me to pick up a big fallen limb with grapple bucket. I lowered the bucket to scoop it and the loader would no longer respond. I just sat there and tried all the joystick positions and nothing.

Finally about 2 minutes went by and it started very weakly responding, then it got stronger and stronger and I was finally able to get the loader & grapple moving again.

Any ideas? Air caught in system?

Is the fluid level correct?

I'm not familiar with your M-7040, but when that happened with my BX, it was because the lever for the 3 point was still slightly in the lift position. That left no hydraulic pressure for the FEL.
Just a thought...

Me too same problem a couple times when I bumped the lever.
3pt takes priority.

Are you guys saying you can't use the loader bucket if the three point implement is raised?

It seems to me they are saying if you have your three point lever a little in the up position or all the way in the up position it will take Hyd from your loader.

I know when I have my three point lever in the up position I can hear the Hyd working to keep pushing up.

For those of us with quarter inching valves on three-point hitch (as opposed to position control), if we leave our valve in the "lift" position, our loader won't work. I don't believe this is the case with position control.

Thanks for the explanation Mike.
