I have played with one mounted on a Gator. It is one heck of a well built piece of equipment. This Gator had the V-plow on it and I would bet a Franklin that it would stack snow just as high as a truck mounted plow would.

Words of advise, check with your Boss dealer first to see which units it is available for. I signed a purchase agreement 9/13 on a Kubota RTV 1100 and went to order my plow 9/14 and come to find out it is not available for the Kubota RTV 1100 until "maybe" next spring. Don't know what to do now. The only other v-plow on the market that interest me is the Kanlan plow. Doesn't look like that one will stack it very high.

Boss Plows are the best. On another post I recently made, I mentioned I would like to get a Power Angle V Plow 6'6" for my new Gator 825i. It is not available yet, but in the works. I do like the Meyer Plow also, but I do not think they make a power v-angle plow for the UTV. I have used both hydraulic and winch operated plows on UTVs and find the Boss Plows to be tops. I am looking as noted to get another for this reason. The only concern I have about any of these plows is the weight. Most weigh between 300-400# total and unless one has power steering (Polaris EPS, Kubota, or a Unisteer unit) slow speed turning would be a chore.

You may wish to check out "Legend Air Shocks" on You Tube. They have a video showing a Ranger with a Boss Plow mounted with their shock set up and also with tracks. What a plowing machine!!! A good contact at Boss is Jamie, with whom I have spoken in the past. He seems knowledgable and helpful and would tell you first hand if they have a plow now for your application. What UTV do you have??

I should also mention Boss knows its plows are good. They are very expensive, but generally one can deal on them somewhat.

Timswi,

I have the curtis plow just like yours on my RTV1100 2009.

Works great, and I have a hydraulic cyl. for the lift instead of the electric.

Removed the skids as one bent when I tried pushing dirt with it. Plowing on pavement so, don't really need them anyway.

Also removed rubber flap just because I didn't like it when pushing snow it doesn't allow snow to roll in front. And most times snow doesn't come over into the windshield. So makes it lighter.

Only problem is plow should lift higher, so I'm going to have the arms cut and rewelded up about 15 degrees up angle to get more height.

Thanks for all of the great input.

I'm looking for a v-plow, too. I have a Polaris, so from what I've seen on the Boss site I should be able to find a match.

The skids will be coming off of mine too. I put a piece of machine belt across the bottom to keep it from digging into the gravel. This worked on the last one.

Some more lift height would definitly be nice. Not sure what they were thinking with that part of the design.

Was wondering about that top flap..Not sure if I'm going to like that. Will probably remove that too. Need to have the snow roll...800ft or so of private road plus the driveway. Don't want the plow clogging up.

Where did you find a hydro lift?

Timswi,

I made up the hydro lift from information gathered at an old forum (CTR), so can't take the credit. It was a great idea and I really am glad I went to the trouble.

Pictures are not numbered but I'll explain and you can sort out which one I'm talking about.]

1 - right fender and grill removed for access and mounting of the 2 position 6-way selector valve.

2 - quick connects mounted in grill pointing straight ahead, eventually I put 90's on these so they point down for easier connecting.

3 - 2 position 6-way selector valve mounted, electric lead not routed just hanging over fender.

4,5,6,7 - plow mounted sitting in driveway, red cyl is the new item.

8 - another view of selector valve.

9 - winch and eye hooks mounted, but may need to be removed when i put the plow back on for the winter.

10 - hard-wood rack and box lined with cattle mat.

I don't have a picture of the hydro lever with the switch but will get one tomorrow when it's day light.

Oh, and I switched from Grote mirrors to Kubota own mirror. Much better.

More pictures. Can't fit all in one post.

This setup was on my RTV900 and I moved it to the new 1100, but put the valve under the hood. No electrical connections to plow, just quick connects. Also went to Kubota mirrors from the Grote unit I did have. Kubota is way better mirror.

Hydro lever is now lift/lower, lifts and lowers plow.
Push button and push lever down at the same time, blade swings to right, push button and lift lever up at the same time, blade swings left.

Spud, Thanks for all the info...I shall study it.

Nice set-up, I like!!

Spudhauler, love those tires. Are those spec'd by Kubota or aftermarket??

Forgot to mention, all the quick couplers have colored wire ties on each end to eliminate error. Red to red, yellow to yellow, green to green, and blue to blue. Unplug hoses and let the catch bolts go and the plow is off in seconds.

The tires/rims are standard Kubota issue for there BX2360 and up line. 26x12-12 ag grip.

Great flotation and like the color of orange rims, but:
They don't feel that good on pavement at speed, 27 mph. I know they are not meant for that.
The fronts rub on the mud flap mount because they are too wide. Bad when the plow is on.
So don't go this solution.
I have ITP MudLite 26x10-12 coming for the front. And should have put their 26x12-12 on back.

Live and learn. Older but not smarter.

I am planning to add 1 inch of lift to the front to see if it helps and do some mods inside the fender to see if I can get more room.

But for winter use the 10 inch wide versions of ITP will no doubt work.
I was going to shift back to my standard rims/tires for winter use, but recently sold them to an RTV900 owner with knobby tires. Actually it is my old one that he bought when I traded for the 11.

Oh, and that is a 4" stroke cyl that I'm going to replace with a 6" unit bought this summer. With bending the arms and longer cyl. hope to get more blade height.

It would be pretty slick to get some of the front loader quick disconnect coupler covers they use on the BX Series loader for them. They are color coded and when you pull the couplings apart they cover the critical surfaces of the couplings so they wouldn't get packed with dirt. That plow set up is awesome, you done good on that job for sure.

Dixiedog,

I had some but once they got oily they kept slipping off.

Then we figured they are pointing downward on the RTV and probably would stay pretty clean anyway.

Always wipe them off before connecting.

And when I store the plow for the summer we put zip sandwich bags on the connectors.

Even the ones on the back end that come with the machine keep falling off.

I'm planning to install a selector valve so I'll have the dump or plow work by pulling/pushing the selector valve.

No more connecting and un-connecting the rear quick couplers.

Well that stinks, I guess I've got something to look forward to with my father's BX down the road :mur: They fit so tight now it's not even funny but it sounds like that goes away after awhile

/ Snow Plow Rec for UTV #20
Next time I'm at Kubota I'll check them out. They just may be tighter fitting than the ones that come on the RTV and the non-Kubota ones someone gave me. I like the idea of the covers.
