Hello, new here

That little tractor whine reminds me I can't hear my little wife whine. It is the sweetest sound in the world!

As others have stated, the whine is normal. If not already wearing hearing protection, I would recommend some Peltor WorkTunes. I never operate my tractor without wearing them. I listen to music while I work but I can still hear the engine/transmission just enough in case something goes wrong.

For my birthday, I received a pair of ipod earphones where the piece that goes in your ear looks like swimming ear plugs. They plug out a lot of noise and you can still hear the tractor run - One complaint though - You are not as "in tune" with the tractor as maybe you should be.

This may be true but I want to keep what hearing I have as long as I can. Out of the many things the Army has taught me, one of them was to wear hearing protection at all times around machinery.
