How much force does it take to bend the rops it is bent down near the lights were the warning are posted on the rops. Can I still use it and can I buy a replacement barand any idea how much or were to buy..

Never agaign will i lend out my machine

Seeing it is meant to protect you in a roll over, its pretty stout. I would think it would take a pretty extreme force to bend it that bad. I'm not sure a simple roll over would even bend it that bad. I'd think you would have to hit something at near full speed to bend it that bad. It's not something a slight bump would cause, I would think it would be an exrteme event that would stick in his mind, and I don't think he is telling you everything.

I'd think its a Kubota only item and I bet it ain't cheap.

So any idea what could cause the rops to be bent?

It sounds like some very extreme forces were exerted on your rig, and your sister's boyfriend is not very honest. You'd best talk to him again, and tell him you want the truth this time.

The only thing I can think of to cause it to bend that badly is to flip it over backwards, very hard, which would cause other damage I would think, or backing up full speed and hit something. Was it in the up position? Maybe if you hit something hard with it folded down it could cause damage?

I will talk to him agaign tommorow and ask agaign what happened I am worried about other damage like a run away diesel if it rolled . I am also calling my dealer tommorow to see how much to replace the rops and have them look over the tractor for any other damage...

I agree. I would examine the back of the ROPS closely for any fresh scratches or dings. If you find something, ask the BF where that came from.

Hit something while towing to his location?
That was my first guess, my second would be that he backed the rops into something while on the trailer.

Got any pictures? Preferably a side profile of the tractor, the bend, the back of the rops and the front of the ROPS.

There are some pretty good photo-interpreters on here.

I would get a quote from the dealer, than ask the BF for the money.

Be interesting to know more about what he was using the backhoe for. Maybe had dug a pit or hole, and the rig fell backward into the hole.

Sure agree that one should not loan their equipment out, at least without being the one to run it.

Wish you luck getting it resolved. Hope there is no other damage.

He said all he was doing was moving stones I think he backed into his deck .. He has a elavated deck high enough for the machine to get under when you fold down the rops .
He used it once before to dig out under his deck ....

Hmmmm, perhaps he was pulling out a large rock without having the outriggers down and the tractor leaned back into the deck...

That thing is designed to stop a 2000lb tractor from rolling over on its operator. It takes a major collision to bend it... one that would knock your fillings loose, wrench your back or give you a very sore bum. The only way the little darling wouldn't exactly remember such an event is if he was blitzed out of his mind when it happened or one of his buddies did it on a joyride and he wasn't there to see it. I would be arranging to take him off in a corner for a very quiet, very earnest, one-to-one conversation, repair estimate in hand.

My BS detector is going off. If he innocently backed into something, why didn't he contact you when it happened? What comments does your sister have to add? A few more well thought out open-ended questions that he can't weasel out of may tell the story.
I'd go check out the deck for additional damage. That may be BS also.
If I had damaged someone else's property to that extent, I wouldn't be able to face them until I made it right. Amen on not loaning out your equipment.

Replacement won't be cheap..BF should pay for replacement also as late Lowell Thomas would say.."The rest of the story".
