Allis Chalmers 616 (Two) and a Kioti CK30 HST with loader and backhoe
Some of you asked me to show a pic of the "Great Pumpkin" at work with rounds. Here is me moving a VERY heavy bale on Sunday. The bale was at least 800lbs and I bet more. Anyhow, she moves them like a champ.

NOTE: keep them low, the pic is a bit for show and the rops is only folded as I was about to drive into a low shed.

The backhoe is a key component to the "great pumpkin" moving rounds. The backhoe provides excellent ballast BEHIND the rear axle, reducing the reaction at the front axle from the picked load.

Neat picture.

Hows it work moving,,maybe going downhill a little??:D

I would not want to try that without the Hoe on the back or something of equivalent weight. Ken Sweet

Great photo! Pretty impressive. Save that one for the Kioti bashers.

Nice pic. Still looks nice and clean. Got to laugh though about your pre emptive comments regarding the ROP's and height of the bale. Guess you have been well trained to do so before someone makes a comment about it.:laughing::laughing:

That's pretty impressive jimmyj. A lot of weight WAYout front. My back ballast would be a box blade so I am not sure my CK30 could do that. However, I was able to load a 4x6 deer observation house (aka shooting house) without much difficulty.

What do you have for forks? The type that bolt onto your FEL bucket?

Do you have water in the rear tires?

Cool picture!

I'd like to try that with my CK20! (with plenty 'o ballast of course)

Thanks all.

The tires are empty, no loading although if I did it again I'd get them loaded. The bucket on the front is a manure bucket with tines that are tempered and pointy. It's the handiest thing I have, great for just about anything. Keep 'er in 4wd and low and on level ground and it's all good. Without the BH the rear will come off the ground. That's not a happy time!

Mouse, I figured if I did not make the comments I'd get lectures!!!

Wow, I'm jealous. My Mahindra 33 horse is limited to 500 lbs on the bale spear. The curl cylinders stall out with a round bale on. Didn't look to seriously at Kioti because the service department is 1.5 hours away through traffic.

Little bales are no issue, but the monsters do stall the curl. It's a bit at the limit with these biggies, and they're fresh so the moisture content is still a bit higher.

But,.....dang it's fun.

Now that I have the 3ph bale spear I'm off to the races! These bales are REALLY heavy and the spear is awesome. The front loader is barely able to lift them.

310 hours so far and she's still earning her keep.:tractor:

That is a load for the CK30. My dad and brother used to move bales like that often with a BIG JD, but again I am not sure I could tackle it with my CK30. Good luck with it and "be peticular" (as my poppa used to say).

Impressive pix, JIMMY, esp the one with bales on the front and rear.

As you found, a backhoe is a great (and removable) ballast. I have the
older Kl130 loader, but I can still lift a rear wheel off the ground with the
hoe mounted. I don't fill the tires.

I tried some experiements and found I could lift over 1200# with the FEL
with no ballast at all, though I do not recommend it. Specs for FELs
never tell you what you can lift if you only need to lift the load an inch
off the ground.
