Ok my B26 was finally delivered, but without the hydraulic thumb. The dealer said the valve, needed to operate the thumb, was going to take another month to get. So he offered to deliver it now and pick up and redeliver it again when the parts come in. All at his expense. Nice guy.
Well the first day was interesting at best. The machine performed above and beyond what i had expected. Its like a little bull dog, with amazing ability. I dug up and moved rock that I didn't think would be possible with such a small TLB, but it did it without hesitation. One of the rocks was taller then the tractor hood, it had to be over 4 feet in diameter. Wow, I'm impressed.
I did have a problem though. I was using the backhoe and needed to move up a couple of feet. So while still in BH operating position, I reached around raised the loader and pushed down the foot pedal to move foward. Each time I did it the tractor wanted to stahl. I figured it was a safety switch that I have to figure out how to by-pass, but thats for another thread. When I went back to the backhoe, it was moving slower and slower, the more i used it, until it barely moved at all. I stopped working and was going to drive back to the house, but it wouldn't move. then the power steering stopped working. I shut it down. It must be the pump. About 2 hours later I tried it again and all was fine, what the ****, I guess its not the pump, but what then. The next morning the dealer sent his guy over. (See I told you he was a nice guy) While doing a full inspection, he found a kinked line. He said it could have been the problem, but it also could be something floating around in the hydraulic fluid. Hopefully, he said if thats the case, it will be caught in the filter.
I used it all day yesterday and today, without a problem. The only other thing I can think of was that when I was using the backhoe, I had it at full thottle. I thought it had to be at full in order to get full power out of the backhoe. I found out later that 2000 rpm was more than enough. If the fluid gets too hot, could the system overheat and shut down? Could I have done any damage? Any advice or input would be appreciated.

Thanks
Carl B

This is the thing you should be concerned about, not overheating the fluid (tractor is designed to not let that happen).
You need to figure out which line it was, and whether there was a relief valve in between the pump and the kink. If not and the kink dead-headed the pump, then yes it could have done some serious pump damage. The fact that it sounds like the entire tractor hydraulics shut down when the power steering is on a separate loop from the implements, does not sound good.

You may need to press the dealer to get these details, and hope that he will be straight with you. The good news is that if the pump has been damaged or grenades under warranty, it will be fixed. The bad news is if it causes a latent defect that doesn't show up until you're out of warranty.

And Carl... you should know better by now:

Btw, congrats on getting it! Let's hope it's all OK now. :)

Thanks for the advice. Is there any way to determine if there was any damage done? Is there a way for the dealer to do a pressure test? For example my backhoe bucket pressure is supposed to be over 4200 lbs. How do I know if I am still getting that? I have a 2 year warrantee so I am not too concerned about the pump dieing sometime down the road. My only question is this machine operating at full capacity? At this point, what do you think I should be pushing the dealer to do? He's willing to help in any way. I just need to know what to ask for.

Thanks, I really do appreciate your time and advice

Like I said, figure out which line it is and (assuming you don't have a WSM for it with a diagram of the hyd system), have him help you figure out if there is a pressure relief valve between the pump and where the kink was.

If there is, you should be OK because the relief would have protected the pump.
If there isn't and the pump deadheaded, then if you have any concerns that the TLB isn't performing the way it should, have them check it out. Yes they should be able to do pressure tests among other things.
Since the pwr steering/HST and BH are on separate circuits, the concern is that they both quit working on you when this happened.

Awesome that you got your new machine! Glad it impressed you, but bummed about the kink. I'd just keep using it and if you notice more issues (la call the guy out again, sounds like you've got a dealer that doesn't forget about you after the sale. (Those guys are great to have.)

I bought mine used and the guy I bought if from bypassed that switch so I have a 2 1/2' rod I keep on mine that I use when I'm trenching.

It is a PITA for it to stall when trying to inch ahead while trenching, but I didn't want to bypass the switch on mine. Instead, when I want to move ahead I just lift the loader bucket and outriggers and use the backhoe to roll the machine ahead a few feet.

Upload your pics to a free photo hosting sight like photobucket.com. Once the pics are uploaded, click on the pic you want to post. Then right click and when the menu comes up, click properties. Copy the URL link in your post between the image tags like this:

You cannot upload photos to a web post straight off your computer. They have to be stored in a photo hosting site.

Huh - what are you talking about ?

I do it all the time ......

Look for "Manage Attachments" under the "Additional Options" when you are replying to a post - that what it's for - to attach photos directly to a web post.

See attached photos ....

While you certainly do the abpve as you descrbe, it requires far more effort and work than the method I described above, and it comes with a very distinct downside:

If for some reason, you cancel your free photo hosting site account, change the URL that the images reside at (after you have linked here to the original URL), etc. etc. ........ the images will no longer be viewable here - which makes threads and the content here considerably less valuable ....

It's completely frustrating when somebody thinks they have found the info they are looking for after having used the Search function .... only to find that the included photos are now missing .....

rswyan - I'll stand corrected, Posting pics the way I described is the only way I know how to do it and you are correct, my way does pose a risk for the pics to be deleted from the post.

OK, since the original poster mentioned the engine trying to cut off while leaning over and pushing the forward/reverse foot petal... thought my situation would fit in. I have a B26... today, I swiveled seat around and the engine cut off. It would not fire off till I bypassed the safety switch attached under bottom of seat, turn switch on, and jump it at the starter. Start position at switch would not work. The switch under seat, I checked and when depressing, would make the circuit.

I tried to sign up for photobucket, but it is not a free site as you stated. They now charge $25 a year to join. Its not so much the money, I just don't like giving them my CC# which they automatically charge yearly. I have had a problem with similar agreements in the past. Do you know of any other sites?

Thanks

If you have saved the photos to your hard drive on your computer, just click the paper clip in the posting dialogue box to bring up the attachment wizard, then click in the blank line next to "Browse". This function will let you navigate to the folder on your computer where the photo's are, then click on the file of the photo. After that, click "upload". As long as the file is smaller than 1 MB, it should upload it. After it uploads, click Preview Post to see if it's there. Good luck.

PS - you have to use the "Go Advanced" posting feature to see the paper clip for uploading.

Sorry if I misled you. I still use photobucket on occasion and its free. They have different packages such as pay for the ability to store more photos. I think the standard account to store the least amount of photos is free. I'm not sure what the megabyte limit is for the free account. I have a couple hundred photos stored for several years and I haven't paid one cent.

I have a B26 and I can get up from the seat, swivel it towards the rear and use the BH without the engine switching off. I haven't tried to advance or backup the tractor with the seat turned to the rear. I'll try it this weekend.

I think an engaged PTO will shut the engine off if you get out of the seat. Sort of makes sense since getting wrapped up in a spinning PTO would really ruin your day.

Ahh, We finally have some pics :). What method did you use to get them posted?
