I recently installed a loader on my tractor. I have been pleased with it...can't believe I lived so long with out it! :eek:

anyway, i was reading my manual last night, and came across the following text:

when loader hydraulics are disconnected from the tractor, the hydraulic circuit must be completed. failure to do so will result in tractor hydraulic pump damage.


does that mean if i want to drop my loader, in addition to disconnecting the 4 QD lines for the cylinders at the valve, do i have to disconnect the "permanent" lines that go from the supply and return sides of the control valve? do i have to reconfigure all the fittings to the factory configuration?

Yes, you will have to connect the in and out hoses together, if you remove the valve and loader.

From your description the valve stays with the tractor and the "permanent lines" are the lines the text is describing so you do NOT have to do any extra plumbing.

What the text was attempting to state is "if the control valve is removed with the loader you must connect the pressure and return lines together."

you're right. the valve does stay with the tractor when the loader is removed. intuitively, i couldn't see a reason to have to reconnect the lines/install the plug that was on the return side, but i didn't want to make a big $$ mistake through my ignorance.
