I am curious. What is the need for dumping the cup? Do you have Mr.Coffee in the car and yearn fresh refill? Why is it so critical to empty the cup you have to do it right there?

Just great... I started this thread, now I find I'm part of the problem.
Actually I have a thermos with me in the morning, but didn't realise that dumping my cold backwash out to refill was so offensive to some people.

Ok. Heeres one for people. My friend, had a travel trailer,Well he had a friend who had a tow truck move it for him once. The toilet tank was full at the time and to drain it, The tow guy got to the top of this hill, and then they quickly pulled the plug and away they drove till it was empty.Apparently most of the 'juice' went out the pipe toward the side of the road..Sure glad I wasnt along for this ride.

sonofagun, The only time I dump coffee at red lights is when the Mrs. and I are on a long trip and we take a thermos of coffee with us and since I am busy driving, sometimes my coffee gets cold before I can drink it all. When that happens I dump my black coffee, usually less than 1/2 a cup at a red light and then I can have a fresh cup of coffee. I will continue to do this since it is not littering...What would a Cop do...tell me to pick it up ? I do not spit out the window...many do, I never throw any trash out the window but others do and sometimes on the right of way in front of my country home. So anyway - that is my answer to why I have to do it right there and I'm sticking to it...:)

Went to walmart yesterday (once in a blue moon thing). You would be suprised at how many carts I had to reject just to find one that didn't have a bunch of trash in it.

It was a fairly hectic week around here, in and out at all hours, never at home for more than an hour or two unless I was sleeping.
Our garbage goes out on Mondays and I usually have the can back up to the house Monday evening after Golf league. This week (for reasons mentioned above) I didn't get the can up til last night. Was on my way back to the house with the can on the front of the tractor thinking "My, this can smells bad". Got to the house and looked inside, someone had dumped their garbage in our can, and it was ripe. Dirty diapers and all.
I went through it a little to see if I could find a name, but they were smart enough to clip names off of any mail there was in it.
It was kind of ironic. All week long I was really feeling good about the people that I had interacted with. Then at the end of the week I get brought back down to realizing that there are a few jerks out there after all.
Well, at least they didn't dump the garbage in my driveway.

Funny you should mention that Mark...I went to Lowe's and did the same thing. I found a couple unopened drill bits in one cart...at least it was worth the effort...

Two stories of mine to tell. When I bought my small farm, I cleaned up my side of a fence row behind 4 neighbors. They liked how it looked, all got together and asked if I would help them with their side. I had tractors, they did not. We worked together pulled the wire and posts, pushed all the brush up on my side, dug a pit and burned it. Legal to burn here. Everybody keeps the line clear now. One guy burns his trash on the ground. And I mean trash. Of course he leaves the bags laying there until he has enough to burn and the animals tear the bags up and all the crap blows over onto my hay field. So I put a few posts back up, stretch a couple of wires behind him only. I pick up the paper in my field and place it it brightly colored plastic bags, all different colors, and tie them to the fence wire. Really looks cool. One of the other neighbors sees it and inquires why. After showing the mess to him he talks to dummy and he gets a burn barrel for his trash. No more paper on me yet. Left the fence behind him still up just in case.

Second story. I work at a major public building. (International Airport). One morning I was walking in the front door, saw a man leaning against the wall next to the front door. Had his pants down taking a dump on the side walk. As I was approaching him to rub his face in it he jumps up and takes off running trying to get his pants up. Appeared to be from another country. Called Police but we could not locate him. I had to get some of my men to bring a shovel and hose up before someone stepped in the mess.

I live on a dead end road, about a mile from a campground. Over the years, I have found a few bags full of crap on the road, and occasionally they dumped raw sewage in the ditch. Since the county cut back mowing the ditches, the dumping has stopped. Occasionally I have caught local rednecks dumping their trash on our road. We only have private pick up here, and some folks don't want to pay. Judging fom the trash, they seem to be able to afford tobacco and beer.... I think I have trained some of the locals - but it hasn't made me popular with the local rednecks.

Well... Let me say---

Um-- I know someone who did this accidentally...
Was in a hurry leaving a campground, and did not dump-
there was someone that was sick or in the hospital, I don't remember the story about that....His wife said she would spell him driving. and decided to go thru a shortcut that he said not to use while pulling the camper as it would not be safe...

not to be told otherwise when he started napping she took the turn.... It would save almost 45 min... do you see the foreshadowing ???

Well, the reason it was not safe was because of a few railroad tracks with steep bumps and ramps up and over....

She took one, and never noticed the damage as she was moving along... about an hour later my friend woke up and looked around. "wow you made good time!!!"

Then she stopped for gas.. as he walked around the trailer to check everything... the septic valves were missing, and the tanks both had the holes for the pipes were supposed to be were wide open holes....

"lumps" had dropped out there at the gas station......
He told me she road the next couple of hours in silence...

The tanks valves were on the drivers side....

I know all this as I helped replace all the things and welded a new "ski" below the pipe.. I seem to remember the valves and all were about $40... the steel for the skis was maybe another $50...

No I did not touch the poop shoots... I built it all and glued it to his measurements and he installed it.. but he did pressure wash it before doing anything to it.....

I would not have wanted to be behind them leaving the campground...

now you can say EEEWWWWWW...

This has to be my longest running thread; guess I'm not the only one bothered by slobs.
Unique to Maine has always been exeptional access to private land. This tradition is slowly being eroded, in part because of illegal dumping and other abuses of the privelege. This summer I've been making a little "pin" money picking up washers, dryers, stoves, and other
scrap metal which people have dumped on the land my company manages; and hauling it to the scrap dealer. My goal is to make $1000 this summer, plus pay for my gas. (My 1987 pickup is fully depreciated.)

Now there is a statement that won't require you to elaborate any further.
