mf135 power steering

have what i beleive to be 1967 mf135. i just got the tractor the power steering works fine with the wheels off the ground only. took the battery out
and the steering box cover was just laying on it.there was no bolts in it gaskets or shims looks like a little oil in bottom of it. the help I need is ,what oil ,how much ,and is this my problem. thanks brad

I don't know about the oil, However sounds like someone else has been in there before you. When working correctly, the 135 only had power assist and that never was much pumpkin IMHO. Ken Sweet

Diesel or gasser? Standard model or Deluxe model?
The PS unit takes Type A automatic transmission fluid or non-foaming hydraulic fluid, 1 quart.

I have a 1964 MF135 diesel Deluxe with MultiPower.

As for your problem, yeah, it looks like you need to put the steering unit back together, lube it and then test it. Could be a problem with the PS pump also.

They will be SAE standard. Should be able to pick them up at any dealer or hardware. Probably Grade 5 or 8. Ken Sweet

It's a Deluxe if it has the full complement of gauges (oil pressure, water temp, amps, fuel, tach/hour meter). Otherwise it's the Special (Standard) that has only the water temp and oil pressure gauges.
