3720 cab vs open air

Outside to outside on my R4 tires is about 71 inches, I just measured them.

I got that from the Deere brochures. I took the data from the 2x20 and the 3x20/4x20 brochure. The 990 is down at the horses otherwise I'd og out and measure it. In fact I just looked in the on line 4x20 brochure and they list the rear wheels as 91.9". Turf tires?

Have you seen these guys next to each other? Forget the specs the size difference is substantial. Ok, so leave out the 2305 but even with the 2320 it's a lot.

I am not saying that the tractors are the same size, I am saying there doesn't seem to be that much difference in where you can fit in yards or lawns. I have found that in most instances my 4520 gets close enough to cover 90% of the jobs I have. Sometimes I could use an X7XX series with a rear tiller or cart but it is suprizing how few places I can't go with a 4X20 tractor. An example of what I am referring to would be comparing my 110tlb to a 410 extendahoe. While I may be able to get in closer with the 110 the 410 extendahoe can reach about twice as far. In some cases the 110 wins and others the 410 wins I would bet most of them will work the majority of the time.

I'd say that depends where you're putting the tractors. I've run through the woods like an indian with the 2320, a little less so with th 2720 and forget the 990. It's good in the fields but once you start getting in the woods up here you're finished. We drag out logs for fire and smaller tractors do a lot better. We got a storm last week and lost some big maples across the road, the first thing we climbed on was the 990.

Well the 3720 arrived and it is nice. I went with the deluxe cab and 300cx loader. I did some bush hogging and wow!!! I listened to the radio and a/c with the horse flies looking in!!! Now I am following up with the wheel spacers for added stability. Thanks for all the advice. I am wroking on pictures.:thumbsup:

After market spacers? You might want to run the tires is in the widest position.

Like I've said before here spacers reduce the load bearing ability of the tractor.

I looked at the configurator before posting this and noted the deletion of the power reverser tranny on the 3720. Something I predicted way back on one of the hydro vs. gear threads

The power reverser has never been available on the 3720 in Europe, the reason why I bought a 3520 although I would have preferred the slightly more powerful engine of the 3720. This may have been an indication of a trend ...

I sat in a cabbed tractor for the first time last weekend. Honestly, I didn't care for it much. It was a Kioti DK45 (I think). Visibility was great and the cockpit was comfortable with a nice design of controls and what not.

I noticed immediately that it lacked the outdoors and I found that to be enough that I wouldn't want a cab. I love the elements in the outerdoors. Especially snow. Now, if I owned a farm and did large plots I can see where the cab could almost be a requirement.

The cab felt a bit clostraphobic (spelling??) to me. I love the looks of a cabbed tractor and I do find them to be very inviting.

You must have some severe claustrophobia. "...lacked the outdoors...? I want a cab to escape the outdoors.:laughing:

Getting the wheel spacers should help with stability and make that one nice tractor.:thumbsup: Enjoy your new tractor.

I was in the anti-cab on a CUT camp until I spent last week down in Virginia. Up here in NY, a cab is just silly on one unless you use it for snowblowing. Down South of the Mason-Dixon line I can see where it would be a near neccesity. I feel sorrry for you folks down there who must spend very little of the summer "outdoors", and need to move quickly between air-conditioned areas. I dont know what I would do without snow, and I love the cold for getting work done outside. Up here, it is tough to raise a sweat most any time of year. What a relief it was to get back home.

Sounds like you got nice weather "down there in NY"....Up here in Maine its either so cold your eyelids freeze open or so hot & muggy you think the world is burning up!
