Actually that's an insult to the species; I've never seen a piglet's dirty diaper dumped in a parking lot on a hot summer's day. What would be so difficult about walking 50 feet to put it in a trash container?

In 14 years of traveling with a dog I have never left piles of s*** in a public place, and it really gets my goat up when I step out of my truck onto somebody's dirty diaper.

Sorry, end of rant.

I hope that doesn't happen too often. You will really be in trouble if it happens to you near a bingo hall.

Took me a second to get the bingo hall one:laughing:

Looking at parking lots tells one a lot about society.
I think American society is going to hades in many ways, people don't bother to park straight between the lines, don't care if they smack your car with their door, don't bother to put the buggy back in the corral and yes drop their kiddie's used diapers on the spot:(

good point. I'll pay close attention when I'm around one of them.

We lived in Switzerland for about 4 years, so this sort of thing probably disgusts us more than it does a lot of people who have lived only in the US.

The roadside trash just wasn't.
Spitting on the sidewalk was rare ("visitors").

Perhaps a bit extreme, but I know one American who was admonished by neighbors for washing a car on Sunday morning and making a messy lather in the apartment parking lot.
Don't know if it was because he made the lather, or failed to wash it away afterward, but of course he didn't speak or understand any of the local languages, so it was communicated largely in gestures.

BTW in several European countries you CAN get ticketed for idling your car for more than a minute at railroad crossings or when live parking at the curb, e.g. waiting to pick someone up.

More likely because it was Sunday. Sunday is 'ruhetag', meaning a quiet, restful period. Probably has it's origins as in 'Sunday is a day of rest', but it's not really a religious thing anymore.

How many times have you seen someone eat on a bus under the NO EATING SIGN and just leave the bag of mc D on the seat or floor, get off at a stop and pass a trash can? Cant not sit on a bench, have to sit on the top of the back rest with their feet on the bench. And I can go on and on.

That would require some effort. Just as it would require some effort to take the beer cans home that are tossed on my property everyday that I have to pickup while walking the dogs. Not to mention used car tires, fast food waste, assorted other trash, and kittens.

I don't like frivilous rules, but I have no problem with extreme punishment for public littering. I used to live in Vermont and litter is extremely rare. NH was not bad either. I'm in Idaho now and that is fairly clean too. Caning for litterers and flogging for anyone that abandons kittens is fine by me. Also, confiscatory fines and indentured servitude is not out of line.

or worser yet they'll throw them into the Dang shopping cart knowing darn good-n-well someone will have to remove it,
we all know what society of people is responsible for doing these acts  the same one's who goes in the closets and basements of newly constructed home, when there are port-a-potties outside, we know who they are and another good reason to deport them

We have about 700' of frontage on a major two lane highway. Cleaning up after the pigs who dump the trash out of the window of the car as they go by really gripes me.
Yesterday we took a day trip to a litttle town on Lake Erie. While there we stopped at a little antique shop. When we arrived we were the only ones there (no other cars in the private parking lot). When we left (about 15 minutes later) there was one other car parked next to ours. Look down next to my door and see wadded up paper towels and other wrappers laying on the ground. They definitely were not there when we arrived.
I took them, wadded them together and stuffed them in the door handle of the car they came from.

As you said......pigs

Many years ago when I was teaching, I was driving to an evening function at the school, and I happened to be behind a "problem" student being driven by his mother. They did not know I was behind them. The drivers window goes down, and a McDonald's bag comes flying out. I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

I think the best thing the Michigan legislature ever did was the 1972 bottle return law - a 5 or 10 cent deposit on soft drink and beer bottles. Really cleaned up the enviornment. I wish they would extend this idea to all consumer packaging. The retail industry would hate it, so it will never happen now.

We have that on just about any drink container other than regular unflavored milk. People pick up the littered containers for the deposit money. People drinking while driving get rid of their containers out the window to avoid compounding thier problems if they are pulled over. I think a beer can in plain view, or providing an aroma, is one probable cause for sobriety testing.

Most of the litter along our road frontage comes from fast food restaurants. What can be said other than 'people really are pigs'.

so I have to ask----

Is throwing out boiled peanut shells while driving or riding down the road littering?

you know 1 or two here and there over 70miles???

I'll share more when I hear comments....:D

Of course it is littering. Do 99% of the peolple care, no. They can't see them and they biodegrade quickly.

Good one. You just know if the Sheriff were looking for a reason to stop YOU, the peanut shells would be all he needs. Should have blinked your lights and made a citizen's arrest. :D

I bet $50 if the cart is in a wal-mart parking lot...at least one of the cart's wheels will wobble like heck and make a racket...
