Anybody here the rumor that montana is closing their doors, is it true? starting to get a little concerned.

not sure but i know the dealer up here just picked up a bunch of LS's and another dealer just imported a bunch of 2010 montana's. I dont think they will close there doors, i just think they will change there color.

With no announcements, and no new tractor lines, rumours are getting stronger.Changing colors will not help.Staying open will be a challenge.
Hope it does.

Sounds like sour grapes :( from the competition.

My dealer seems to be doing just fine.

The website of Montana has had some changes,
Interesting as it has dropped the original green tractors, some sales personnel and the Branson tractors.Only the Montana limited Blue tractors which they purchased from Framtrac are displayed
looks like the logical end is very near.I do not think any dealer or employee Knows what is happenning.
Whatever announcements are made, Montana is heading for more uncertainity than what is happenning now.
Hope some dealers, personnel who have more information will comment.

It is true, blue tractors show up on the home page, great deals can be made in some parts of the country. Hit the tractors on the left column and plenty of green ones show up. Look pretty good too. Locally, our Montana dealer dropped them but, picked up LS Tractor, their gaining speed, so not to worry. Trac

I heard from a friend who used to work for montana, stated he heard that they in in process of layoff's. dont sound good

The process of lay offs can be seen on the information provided on the website which shows reduced sales reps.
Sad but looks like things are not going well. The tractor customers will have minimal problems as LS tractors is here.

Montana has never been the same since J.B. Hunt passed away.
Would be interesting to see where they would be if he was still around.
Trucking company is doing quite well.......

The sky is falling, the sky is falling, the sky is falling. :confused2:

The last time I checked my Montana, it is an LS/LG tractor.

Sorry, I had to pull my last thread. it seems that info gets messed up over the phone. The Montana dealer here said that the Framtrac is based on Ford. which I don't understand, anyway, since Montana's are not available, the price of the 42hp Framtrac will be the same as a 28hp Montana. My question is; Is this too good a deal with all the rumours floating around about Montana? or did I just answer my own question.

It has been reported that Montana bought out the FarmTrac inventory quite a while ago, almost a year ago, if memory serves, so this isn't news. They merely re-badged them. FarmTrac was also a re-badge company who bought machines from several manufacturing points.
You really need to know who actually made the particular model you are interested in. LS? Escort? Someone else? It matters!!!

That said, they have sold like hot cakes. Some of those FarmTrac models are LS tractors, some have Mitsu engine, and so forth. Some particular models are virtually the same as other, decal/tractors elsewhere. Some, I believe, were Escorts. For the price some have paid, I think they got outstanding deals. It all depends.

You'll need input from knowledgeable guys, not just fast talking sales people. Choose rightly and pay a low price and they can be a steal. Just remember, it is what it is. An '07 or '08 tractor. It is not a Kubota or Deere and won't resell like one either. Some models might be best to avoid as well. As I say, get some advice and be informed.

Post in the FarmTrac forum here and ask about your particular model of interest.

jff12, I do not own a Framtrac nor a Montana. But given the price point some of these late LS made Farmtracs sold for, it sure wouldn't have bothered me.
LS makes how many decal tractors? Montana, McCormick, etc. Even some pretty big names are really LS.

Well Look at like this would you buy a car that the manufacturer was going out of business. I seriously doubt it. Now I have been told that they even if they shut their doors there will be service and warranty as required by law. Now Ls has supposedly made a deal with New Holland for 35000 units which could send them packing back home. So be careful what you buy do your research very carefully.
