questions about moving emplement pins

Your lift handle is different from mine but you can see the stop above and below my handle. I can adjust mine for an up or down stop. Pay no attention to the draft handle, don't think you have one. That is actually where I have been using my rotary mower at. My mower pins are pretty high, that is why my lower stop is so high.

just wondering - if by chance you really did want to move your lower lift pins to where those bolts were, they look like large enough bolts that you could try category "0" pins with category "1" bushings and maybe not have to drill holes bigger - just to try it before permanently changing original design - not saying this is the correct way to address the concern, just saying an alternative to the drilling holes bigger...

I would leave the pins and not use the upper link. That's what I do now after almost rolling my tractor. Went down a little hill and when tractor started to level out. The top link stuck down and lifted the back of the tractor off the ground......... now I don't use it.

There should be a stop welded in to prevent the toplink from going below center.

been raining every other day since I post this topic and the ground is to wet to travel on with my tractor, I haven't had a chance to try some of the suggestions made,

really I don't see a need for the top link on a mower. Other then lifting it up. With my small YM1602D the extra wear n tear of picking it up and driving is not wanted.

Don't scare new users into using their equipment incorrectly, because using two points of a 3ph is using it incorrectly. Dragging around a 3ph mower can cause all sorts of problems. You need a pull behind mower. As far as your experience, something just wasn稚 right. That doesn稚 happen when things are hooked up and working properly.

This is a very unsafe and bad idea. I also dont know why anyone would want to just drag around the mower when you could pick it up.

I have a 1610D with a 600 lb tiller on the back that I never take off because it is great for counter weight when using the loader.

You mentioned wear and tear from lifting your mower.....these tractors are made to lift thats why they have a 3 pt in the first place. I happen to know for a fact that the 1610D will lift 900 lbs at the 3 pt with no problem. I had a 300lb man sit on my tiller and the tractor lifted it with ease at 1200 RPM.

Also when you cut corners, as in the example of not using the top link in the 3pt it perpetuates cutting corners in other areas. Yes doing things safe often takes more time and money but in the long run will save money if you get hurt. I work in the health care field and see patients everyday who have hurt themselves due to doing something stupid that could have been prevented by a little care and common sense. We all want to enjoy our tractors for many years, and I feel the purpose of this forum is help those who may be novice in operating their tractor with correct and safe information.

There should be a stop preventing the top link bracket from swivelling too far to the front. Could the bracket be on there backwards?

the bracket is shaped like a U. The open side of the U is what my top link pin goes through. How it was when I bought it???

Justin here is pick of my FM. It is set up with a U bracket also. It is set up so the angle either way would have to be tremendous for it to get stuck up and back or down and back. I angled mine down and I don't think I could go over a hill or angle to make it do that. Sure would like to see a Pic. so we can maybe see whats may be going on. Safety first and there won't be a person on here that won't help you in trying to keep that from happening again. I hope you can see it
and maybe keep from removing it.

Dang! yea thats not right I believe I would cut/weld back and shorten the bar Or just try to get a smaller one. it should be pointing down both of my mowers do FM and BH. Just IMO.

thats how it gets stuck. in the down position. I even have the book. Thats how it gets assembled?????
do you think i should move it down to second hole and move the side straps down out of the way?

Am i right in thinking your top link has been shortened? I don't think is has anything to do with your problem. I can't tell from your pictures, when the front of your mower is at the height you want on level ground, what position is the top link swivel? That swivel looks mighty high.
