I purchased a GC 2400 4 weeks ago.
The Hydraulics seem funky to me.
At Idle, the 3pt and mower drop fast, but rise slow.
At high RPM, they lower slowly, but rise fast.
The 3pt rises so fast at high throttle that it almost bounces the back of the tractor off the ground. This can't be right can it?

P.S. I'm asking here because the dealer has yet to return any of my calls.

Thanks in advance
Don

I have about 12 hours on my new GC2410, and I notice that there is fast drop or slow drop and rise in high throttle. Slow movements require a light touch on the levers. You can get slow movements at high RPMs if you're careful. As for lowering slowly even in high RPMs, that would have to be light touch in my experience.

When seated on the tractor...there is a black knob to the inside of your right calf...it is used to adjust the 3 PT and mower linkage speed...you can actually turn it to the point of locking the mower linkage arms in place so that they won't drop with the 3 PT. Try that and let us know.

I have that knob completely open. I turned it in once to see what it did, because I have no owners manual yet. And it did stop the deck from moving.
I talked to the dealer yesterday,(had to show up in person) and he thinks there may be a problem with it. He is going to contact the service rep.
I'll post back here when I get the answer.

Thanks, Don

Dealer checked it out yesterday.
He says with weight on the 3 pt(which I didn't have), it works as it is supposed to.
Has anyone else noticed a difference.....with/ without weight on the 3pt?

With a box blade on the back, the hitch will drop like a rock if the knob is fully open. If there is no weight on the hitch, the arms are slow to drop. The rate of drop knob can be adjusted anywhere from drop virtually instantly to locked. On my GC, rate of drop is not related to engine rpm, however rate of rise is very dependent on rpm. It is difficult to get a slow rate of rise at high rpm. At high rpm, I can feather the 3ph lever to get the hitch to raise very slowly, but just a little more lever and the hitch will jump right up. It is difficult to get a intermediate lift speed at high rpm, for me anyway.

Sounds to me like your 3ph is working properly.

I have a GC2400 i bought last April and I have noticed the same thing. When I added my 7 foot york rake to it, the weight helps the raise and drop rates tremendously. I still will only raise the 3 pt. attachments at a lower idle (1500 or less).

Hope that helps,
Mike
