Just a few notes... not meant to be critical, but some things to think about... :thumbsup:
When company comes over, where are you going to hang their coats?
The dining room is only 10 x 10. Subtract 3' off of each end of a dining room table so you can walk though when someone is seated and that leaves room for a 4' table.
When you are sitting on the toilet recovering from a night of bad burritos and your wife wants to get her clothes out of the closet, she has to walk right past you.
When you bring groceries home you have to walk through the living room to get to the kitchen either from the carport or the front entrance. The kitchen is typically the most used room in the house.
The island in the center makes it a one-butt kitchen. That is, if anyone is working at the stove, sink or dishwasher, no one else can get past them and they bump butts. Which could be a fun thing... :laughing:
Two sinks in the bathrooms is really nice.
The bedroom size looks fine. Nice sized closets for kids.
Your guest half bath has the door facing away from the living room, which is great! I have seen many guest baths with the door facing high traffic areas. Makes for embarrassing moments if the door is not locked.

The kids rooms are ok sized. :laughing: Our city house had two bedrooms that were 10x10. The house was built in 1977.
The house we live in now, the dream house I designed, the kids rooms are 12x12 with big windows and a large closets. The rooms are a good sized and we hemed and hawed about going bigger so the kids could have a desk to study. And maybe computers......
There is just enough room though cluttered to have a small desk. The kids are young so it works for now. We decided any computers they have will be in the study so we can keep and eye on them. They also have desk space in the study.
Even though each kid has their own room. And each room IS the same,, the kids decided to share a room! :confused2:

I guess we'll figure something out.I should have noted that the dashed lines indicate no walls, only open beams. Most dining tables we've looked at are about 40-42" wide x 60". With no walls to be bound by, I think it will work out. In the event that we have more people over and need more seating area, we'll extend the table out towards the living room. Not ideal, but will work. Plus there will be room for 4 at the island bar.
The wife and I both have an understanding that if one of us is on the can, no entry is allowed. We're both fine with waiting to get in there.

Yeah. Our dining room table is 5' closed and 9' open. We usually 12-14 people at Thanksgiving. So your dining room is open to the foyer? Someone opens the front door and the turkey gets cold! :laughing: Guess there is some different thinking from north to south, hey?
Guests are coming in the back door? What's the point of having a big fancy front porch and foyer if no one uses it?
Is there a drive in front of the house or do people that have never been there before have to walk around the side of the house to get to the front door? That's a pet peeve of mine, too... a house where you can't see the front door from the parking area, so you kind of have no idea where to go when you drive up.
I know I sure enjoy having a door directly from the garage to the pantry and/or kitchen. It makes hauling groceries not so much a chore. If you have carpet you will get a wear pattern rather quickly from that back door to your kitchen. Are you going to tile it or wood floor, perhaps?

99% of the time the back door will be used. There will be tile in the "foyer" area by the back door and wood floor in the living room. To be honest, the front door is mainly for looks. That's typical around here. Most guests will be family or close friends. Initially there will not be a drive in front of the house. The main drive will come up the right side of the house. As time & money allow, I would like to construct a drive in the front. Most of the time we wouldn't want to open that front door and lose all of our "conditioned air". Don't have to worry so much about the cold.
