Hi guys,
Ok I will try to state this question another way I have a L2900 dt gst 4 wheel drive. On the front prop shaft there are 2 seals where the shaft leaves the transmission, these seals seem to be shot. can they be replaced by pulling the front prop shaft and pulled out towards the front end or does the transmission need to be dissasembled? I installed the 2 o-rings and the prop shaft spacer and it did not help or did I miss something?
Thanks guys!!

Good evening,

I am curious about the castle nut and cotter pin, how tight did you tighten the castle nut that is used to retain the yoke?

It has to be very tight and the O rings have to be set in the shoulders properly and I hope you used new O rings. as they are good for one use only

Ok I guess I need to know a bit more about the castle nut? I did not know there was a way to put pressure on the front drive shaft. Where can I find the castle nut?
thanks for the response!

Ok,

if you did not have remove the cotter pin and castle nut to get the yoke off to change the o rings you do not have one on the transmission.

Did you remove cover which contained a mechanical seal for the output shaft?

Assuming that the transmission has a spline output shaft for the front wheel drive you have a splined sleeve slides back and forth that is connected to the transmission out put shaft.

If you have the time could you post a picture? and if you ask barrlows or messicks for help they should be able to help you.

I have the shop manual for the tractor and I cannot find the castle nut on the front drive shaft. The drive shaft has 2 sleeves with roll pins which is how i was able to get the Kubota fix in place (which consists of a sleeve and 2 o-rings). I can take a picture of the front drive shaft but it wont show much. I did notice today that when I grab the drive shaft there is around 1/4" of front to back play in the shaft is this normal?
Thanks guys!
