New Road Grader Trail Run Today

Looks good. I am surprised that it works so good with the chain top link. I would have thought that the front blade would dig in and the whole unit would just tilt forward.

Glad that it works well for you, be sure to post more pictures of it working. Your place sure is in a nice setting. More pictures are welcome.

Seems the front height (depth of cut) is controlled by the height of the 3pt arms.

I think the chain is a great idea.

Like any tool it will take me some time to find the most effective
ways to use it

This is soooooo true. You will find that you can have it set a certain way to get one type of result and then need to set it another way to get a different type of result. Ground moisture will make a huge difference on what you will need to do to get the results that you want. I think that you will find that you don't just (drop it and go) like a lot of guys have said in the past. That's not to say that dropping it and going doesn't work, just that it can work much much better with proper adjustment. I know that for my working conditions, very seldom could I just (drop and go). ;)

I found with my grader scraper that how it cut and what kind of finish it made varied depending on how I set the top link. I have a hydraulic top link ordered just for that purpose.
I suspect I will find the hydraulic top link useful for other things as well but it was adjusting the G/S that drove me to it.

I have started looking at hydraulic top links for that very reason.
What did you get? I am thinking your 3030 must be pretty similar to my L3010

Measure your stock top link. Total length collapsed and extended. Do you typically have it longer or shorter? Get a hydraulic one that is close to that. CCM has 2 different ones that will work for you if you want one with DPOCVs. There are several other suppliers also.

Gordon,
I adjust my top link all the time to achieve the best results, with my hydraulic top link I have float position similar to using a chain along with the more normal extend/retract modes.

Like most things paying attention to the adjustments makes a big difference in the quality of the results. A little seat time working with it is all it takes.

Hydraulic top link with float position, how do you manage that? Same as for the LA403 FEL? I'd like to have my hyrd toplink floating.

The loader joystick controls the top n tilt hitch hence the float position.

On my Mahindra tractors, all 3 factory rear remotes on the 7520 and the one factory along with one of the two aftermarket remotes on my 3215 have float position. This might be an interesting topic for another thread. Float or no float, what do you have? :D

My hyd. top link doesn't float, but the only need I have for that is the rotary cutter. And the RC has a chain to let it float (from the top iMatch connection back to the rear of the cutter is chain, instead of the flat iron braces). The RC is adjusted for height with the 3 ph arms, and the trailing rear wheel.
