Golf carts as support vehicles...

Anyone else use a golf cart as a means to get to and from their tractors or tractor barns?

I have an Easy Go cart with a utility box on the back....whether diectly on my property or a project site nearby or along the road...many times it is much easier and faster for me to leave the tractor and use my cart for running back and forth from project site to the tool shed etc...

Until I bought the tractor the golf cart was the best thing I had ever bought for making life easier around our mountainous river retreat...

The utility box allows me to cary a lot more tools etc as well as general tractor maintainence equipment...

just curious how many others have golf carts for getting around their property...

Yep - Pine I have a Hyudai gas golf cart and use it all the time to run around the farm for all sorts of chores...sure saves a lot of steps......comes in real handy..

I have a Bad Boy Buggy, nothing more than a beefed up golf cart. It gets far more use than the tractor. I removed the rear seats and built a bed for it. Great for getting around the farm and general farm work. Makes fencing MUCH easier, as I can have everything I may need right there, plus the winch works well for stretching wire.

A lot of people go to UTV's without even considering golf carts. Big mistake. I prefer the golf carts. UTV's are nice, golf carts are magic.

Easy, in and out, easy go, rugged enough and way cheaper. I was a convert and I've made a couple more converts out of friends and family. Anyone buying a UTV should really do themselves a favor and test ride a cargo box golf cart too.

Had! one, got rid of it expecting to one day buy a Gator or some sort of UTV, then money went elsewhere
my cart was a converted Yamaha 4-stroke Gas engine I lift it and put larger Nobby tires, paint had to be no doubt JD green:thumbsup:
I know the Datsy gang sure misses it I could no more then start walking toward the direction of the cart and all 4 of them be up in the seat waiting to get-a ride...

We have an ez-go. Bought it two years ago to go to and from the barn and to trailer to the golf course. We use it all the time. Its quiet operation also comes in handy scouting deer in the off-season.

I agree. For $1500 for a nice used electric model, more people ought to look at em. Especially when a gator 2X4 bare is $5 grand.

The owner of the place where I'm removing eucalyptus trees has a golf cart with a small utility box on the back. It is a storehouse for chain saws, cable, rope, gas mix, oil, pulleys, chain, you name it. It is quite handy to have what is needed right there and mobile besides.

It is also a comfortable place to plop down when taking a break. His excuse is that he has congestive heart failure, a pacemaker, and tires quickly. But it really is a place to sit and smoke cigars for him.

I'm looking for a UTV to carry a boom sprayer. I found out this year with all the rain (Nov-May is our rainy season) the my big tractor, 54 hp Mahindra 5525, is not the best tool for applying post-emergence herbicide to soggy fields. Something smaller with high flotation wheels is the ticket. Maybe a golf cart will do the trick--I only have 6 acres to spray.

I hear that...and it's a fact... very comfortable seat with a sun canopy...even better if there's a cooler and refreshing beverage...After mowing or working in the garden I'll pull the cart down to a shady spot on the river bank and chill out...

...I keep all of the above and too many other things in my box to name...
I do wish I had a weather cover for the box though...

FWIW...I do detail the golf cart but not the tractor...

I have a 25 gallon sprayer in it or room for chain saws, tools, deer, fuel and a 4WD is a must have where I live. For simple transport a golf cart might be fine, but a UTV/RUV will do it all.

My neighbor traded his golf cart for a Mule last year. Of the first four houses on my road three have a UTV/RUV.

I have a yamaha g-16 and i used to pull a f-100 around my yard with it . and move falledn tree 9" diameter and 30 ft long . and here just about everyone has golf carts and we can get torque kits up to 70% more torque or bigger engines. golf carts are heavier than utv therefore more torque .my cart tops out about 30 mph could do 40 but i need to replace the drive belt

I love my golf cart. All the good stuff above apply but being able to cruise around the property in a comfortable quiet machine with my wife and dog is the best. Although a cart is not intended as a work machine it earns its keep. Hauls chicken feed to the barn. Cruises the trails with me and and cutting implements to trim and haul small piles of fire wood home and a lot more. Besides... everyone knows the best thing about golf is the cart.

I didn't know they even made a golf cart like that; sure would be handy. I chose the Rhino as a "compromise" as a bigger more powerful machine with more capacity won't fit in some of the places I go and something smaller like a Rzr won't haul much of anything.

I've played some courses and hit some shots were a fancy 4X4 golf cart would have been quite useful.

I think that "golf cart" refers to a style of vehicle rather than one specifically made for golf. Those would not be very useful in the field since the rear is made to carry golf clubs rather than farming equipment.

Gwdixon is right, mine is a "golf cart" by style only. The body parts are all golf cart, but it has two 15.5 hp mortors, one per axle, off road tires, front rack with winch and so on. It's basically an electric UTV. I'd still like a gas UTV for heavier work, but the simplicity of driving the cart sure is nice.

I considered a golf cart when looking for something to get around on my 43 acres. For my needs, I wound up with a UTV. I bought the 1000 Prowler over the Polaris RZR because of the bed. The Prowler is about like a small trophy truck in performance....it'll amaze you. Unlike most, however, I use my for hard work and for getting out and tearing up the trails in many different riding areas. Also, to access my property is limited and muddy 8 months out of the year.

However, now that I'm working on my driveway and access is getting better. I'd love to have an electric golf cart. The primary reason is because I want the silence of it. We love to ride around looking at the trees, flowers and animals. The Prowler has a pipe on it so it's loud. Another reason, is to keep the wear and tear off of the Prowler. The biggest draw back for me of an electric golf cart is the ability to go down in to my woods and come back out. I know they'll surprise you but it gets pretty rough in some areas down in the valley. Other than that, I'd love one and will probably have one some day....

Therein lies my confusion; kind of like Bill Clinton's "it depends on what the meaning of 'is' is." My understanding of "golf cart" is a machine designed to be used on a golf course and a "utility vehicle" is designed for a variety of utilitarian purposes, thus the names.

As much pride courses take in their greens, I can't imagine any of them allowing a 4WD even on the course, but there again I don't know much about golf.

A couple of years ago, I had to start hunting out of a vehicle and I sure can see where the low noise of an electric vehicle would be nice in the woods for hunting and sight seeing. I am out of space and keep my Mule at another farm and already have an unbuilt building filled, so I don't guess I will be getting one.

This is our GC-400 Gran Cushman that we have been using around our place for the last six years but since we will be moving up to our rural mountain property soon, the Cushman is now for sale as we bought a Kawasaki Mule as a replacement.
This all stock gasoline Cushman spent most of it's life in private ownership on a golf course in Washington. It actually has a "ball washer" mounted on the driver's side rear rail and two golf bag holders in back.

Mine isn't really a golf cart, It was designed for use in a factory (level ground) but works very well for my application. I repainted it several years ago (for use in a 4H parade), but its got some scratches. But is quite handy, no gas or oil, no engine to maintain (just charge up the batteries after every use).
