Tractor
NH TD5030, 861 Ford Powermaster, CaseIH Farmall 35A, 555A Ford Backhoe, S150x SnapperPro ZTR, Polaris Ranger XP800
After debating for several months I finally purchased a new tractor. It is a New Holland TD5030 with 75hp and 4wd. I also purchased a new 7' box blade with a hyd top link and a Bushhog 3910 (10') semi-mount offset rotary cutter. With any luck this rig should last me for years.

The new tractor and rotary cutter are replacing a 1970 model 180 Allis Chalmers and a very old 10' cutter. Looks like I have some catching up to do in tractor technology. They changed a few things since 1970.

The new rotary cutter has not come in yet so I have no pictures of it. I will post some of the whole rig when I get it setup.

Congratulations on your new purchase. She looks like a very sturdy, capable machine. I've been very happy with my New Holland tractor so far, and I'm sure you'll enjoy yours as well.

Nice! Sitting there in your driveway, that tractor looks unstoppable. Those big front tires with ag cleats look like they're working when they're sitting still. I'm just curious about one thing. Your primary use for this tractor seems to be pulling your new 10' cutter. Do you have terrain that would require 4wd? Many dedicated mower tractors are primarily 2wd. Will you add a loader in the future?

Nice new tractor Chris. That's a model I would look at seriously if I were buying. I like the ground clearance the large wheels give. Really helps for working in a woods with stumps and rocks.
Have fun.
Dave.

I purchased this tractor for various uses including pulling a 10' cutter. In the future I will be using this tractor with a chisel plow, disc, cutting and rolling hay and other things. The property has various terrain including some steep hills that I will be cutting. We have gotten by with a two wheel drive tractor on this property for several years but on several occasions I wished that I had the extra traction of 4WD.

I will be adding a loader in the future. I currently have a 555 Ford TLB that can handle the loader needs. When I get into handling round bales I will add the loader.

I have ran the tractor using the box blade for a couple of hours now and those big front tires are messing with my head. I am not used to seeing tires that big and with such aggressive tread in front of me but I am sure I will adapt in time. I drove it around the property some and those big front tires sure make going thru some of the rough spots much less of an event.:)

I did not trade in the AC on this tractor. I did however private sell the AC and old 10' cutter. I am using the proceeds from that sale to purchase the new 10' cutter.

I got the 12x12 mechanical shuttle trans.. I definitely wanted a shuttle transmission but did not want the added price and potential of failure with an electronic shuttle. So far I think that I am going to be very pleased with the transmission.

kf4uda,
My unit has the mechanical shuttle also. I haven't put many hours on it yet, but it works real nice. Getting anxious for the ground to dry out and start working it. i used it for a few hours snowblowing and doing a little bucket work this winter. I have a 7ft bushhog, won't need to start using that until close to July.

You certainly have a nice machine. I priced a cab but the $7k changed my mind. That amount probably wont seem so expensive in the middle of the summer or winter. I do intend to put a FEL on it in the future.

Awesome tractor!

I am feeling insignificant. Your front tires are way bigger than my rear tires.

I had planned on going with an open station and have a winter cab for snowblowing. But, i came across this at a dealership. They had it on consignment, a guy had to liquidate his assets quickly. It's an '09 w/300hours on it. Had the backhoe(which i'm not sure i'm going to keep) plus tire chains, rear tires loaded. It was too good of a deal to pass up.

It will be some time before I will be bailing. I will probably start out with about 30 acres when I do and go from there.

I turned my garden yesterday with my old 861 Ford. I would like to have used the new tractor but I think it would have been an overkill for a 2-14 plow. I will get to to disc with the new one.

You got the right tractor - obviously! I just got to disc last week and loved it. What type of Disc will you be using?

I have a 8ft pull type with hyd. lift. I have a drag made out of a couple of 3" pipes welded together with angle iron that I pull behind the disc for the finishing touch. It does a nice job.
