Hi everyone, getting ready to put an offer in on a property and there's a B2910 that could be worked into the deal. We don't currently have a utility tractor, so this may be the way to go. Its smaller than I would like, but it may suit my needs for quite a while as well.

The current owner is retiring and has stated that he has no need for it anymore and would plan to sell if it didn't go with the house. So, keep that in mind when figuring the price.

Its in nice shape and has just under 800 hrs. He didn't farm for a living but mowed a lot with it and then did the occasional loader job along with till a garden. Looks like he kept everything outside...still in decent shape though.

Equipment he's got to offer:
Kubota B2910 (I did not ask the year)
<800 hrs
Loader
Turf tires
5' brush hog
60" 3pt Finish mower
48" tiller
furrow plow

Thoughts? Thanks!!!

Anywhere between $8500 and $10,500 would be a steal of a deal. It's a 30 HP machine that is no older than the year 2000. An average of 80 hours a year isn't bad, in particular if he has service records. Regardless, 800 hours is low hours.

Compared to the 30 HP machine I purchased in 2006 with a FEL amd MMM for $18k out the door. Even $12k isn't a bad price but anything is worth only as much as someone is willing to pay.

$0.02

The 2910 is a nice machine with the classic kubota lines. If as you say, everything is in good condition, 10 grand is a great deal? Is the tractor a hydro?

If financed using a 30 year morgage... That B2910 is going to cost your $40,000 dollars!

What are you talking about? How much is he buying it for? $100 $200 $300 and what's his rate of interest? 1% 1.5% 22%? What are you talking about?

Actually he has a good point but is exaggerating a bit. Adding 10K to a 30 year mortgage is the same thing as paying off 10K over 30 years. If you assume 6% interest rate for the mortgage the 10K extra loan will cost a total of $21000 plus change.

So what?:confused2: If we're assuming, how come we're not assuming he gets it for $1200 and gets a 2% interest? Assuming has always been defined as *** u me...I guess I always assume something from the positive side and some people always assume from a negative. That's my point. He never even gave a dollar amount, not one dollar amount was mentioned, nor was a term mentioned, not any term but 30 years has popped up. Where did that come from? So some one chooses to finance something for 3, 5, 10, 20, 30 or 40 years, so what? Does having a longer loan make something a good or bad deal? It's just a choice, not good, not bad, just a choice. Home loans are usually from 10 to 30 years, not good or not bad, they are just choices. Let the man step up and tell his cost and terms then applaude or berate him. Or maybe offer some advise based on the information he provides.

Man, you are pretty concrete. Ever heard of using estimates? The tractor is worth something close to 10K not $1200. Most mortgages are for about 30 years, not 3 or 5 or 40. The point is simply that if he rolls the cost of the tractor into his mortgage, which is what he implied, then the eventual cost of the tractor will be pretty high. Get it?

Well Happy Easter everyone. Looks like things got pretty interesting here since the original post :)

With out dragging out a long post here, I'll explain some thoughts that I had. The loan we're looking at would be for about 1/2 the purchase price, and would actually be around 5 yrs or less.

The main idea hear for the price check was to get a feeling for what the equipment is worth. Yes, I know its only worth what I'm willing to pay. Knowing that I will need to purchase that type of equipment at some point means I either buy it from him or someone else. I'm looking at this as its only worth what I'd be willing to buy it for elsewhere...and then factoring in that it can be had for less since it can be rolled in with the property.
