Thanks for your reply winston, I am glad to see I am not the only one that has done stupid things.Anyone who has had the take one of these starters apart would know the mistake I made.It has to do with the spring on the end of the solenoid.

Wetre we supposed to also "guess" that you had taken the starter apart?

I did say that I had to replace the solenoid that was damaged in shipping.Replacing the solenoid was the only work done to starter.

Is this the same as the 1401D? 2 whites (Blue?) to Generator Red battery + and white to Ground?

Thanks for helping out DRCDAC.You must be refering to the votage regulator output wires.The 1500D is the same as 1401D two blue wires,red wire, ground wire from voltage regulator is not white but black.I have found the problem it was not my fault after all, after looking to buy a new solenoid.The solenoid I replaced the original with that was damaged in shipping was China made #SS-511.It has the same two binding posts and one spade terminal connections and can be installed in only one position.The binding posts on the China made part are reversed,not like original Hitachi solenoid.The post that connects to battery on China made part is grounded to solenoid body thru internal solenoid winding...............Final Score: China1/USA0
