Has anybody here made a claim on the Kubota insurance? How did it go?

I decided to buy a Kubota RTV 500 for playing around and I'm not sure if I want to use their insurance or not.

I'd check with your insurance agent to see if your RTV is already covered under your homeowners policy.

For instance, my homeowners insurance covers my tractor and any damage as long as the tractor was operating on my property. If something occurs off my property, then my homeowners policy covers property damages caused by the tractor but not the tractor itself. The coverage was part of my policy and was not an extra rider on the policy -- meaning my rate didn't increase after I purchased my tractor.

It'd be silly to purchase Kubota's insurance policy if you're already covered by your homeowners insurance.

Up in MA, you cannot put a tractor on your home policy (aka a rider)...I know I did at one time and not know.

Are you suggesting that Massachusetts has a law stating that a tractor cannot be on homeowners policy? Are you sure?

Whether the tractor is covered or not under homeowners insurance is based on the insurer and not by laws. Some insurers will automatically cover a tractor without a rider (Safeco does). I suspect all insurers that don't automatically cover a tractor will cover one with a rider.

I went ahead and got KTAC insurance even though I knew that my homeowners policy covered the tractor. The part that the HO insurance doesn't cover is damage to the engine or other parts of the tractor. I made a claim for the my hydro fan being taken out by a twig and it was covered. The claim process was very easy and they allowed me to use a dealer of my choice.

The other reason that I got KTAC was because it covers the tractor while trailering or if it gets damaged off my property while doing side work for others.

In Oregon the home owners insurance would not cover upset and some other damages without a seperate rider. If you finance through Kubota this coverage is required. The rider was as expensive as an automobile. Got Agri Insurance and it was alot cheaper.

Um, Not sure.... just know what I went through.......Problem is most are missing is what defines a tractor. Most think a Home depot unit...I have Safero (funny) in another state and they are cheap for that state. Up here a rip off.

Exactly. I too did the same thing. All for precisely $120 per year, full coverage, anywhere, anytime, in writing from Kubota.

It is covered while it's on my property but not when trailering or operating on other land like state owned or other's land. I think the Kubota insurance is fairly reasonable I just wondered if they were tough to deal with when handling claims or if they paid up. I think I'll take it and if I ever need to make a claim I hope it goes as well as BotaBX24er's claim

I have my RTV500 covered by State Farm..Full coverage on or off the property. $160 per year.

Looking at buying an RTV1100 and it is around $180 per year through Kubota. Not bad in that respect given that this machine is twice as expensive as the 500 and it is full coverage on or off my property.

I plow the neighbors driveways and take it to sportsmans club events. So I need to be insured anywhere.

Other TBN posts have said that the claim process is pretty good. Don't know myself though.

My BX is covered under my homeowners. Mechanics aren't covered, but a fire or whatever is. This machine almost never leaves my property lines.

Kubota insurance is for replacement value not depreciated value like with home owners!!!!!!

They also cover much more then a standard policy with flood insurance not that you might need it but!

It looks like it must be pretty good, no complaints so far. I guess I want to go with it then.

Here in MA I had a break ino my shed and they took my Kubota implements including a bagger and mowing deck and my homeowners insurance covered it no problems or questions asked. Might be an insurance company thing. I use Liberty Mutual. Cant say enough good about them. My original deck and bagger I bought used for 1400.00. As per my policy they gave me replacement cost less 20% depreciation. So I made out OK on my end but check with your agent.

If you have home owners insurance, always check with them first. My agent also mentioned a Marine policy for one I use in business. Ask your agent!!!!

I got insurance for my Kubota M 7040 thru John Deere. Amazingly inexpensive. Probably 1/5th the cost of Kubota ins.

Just bought a new Kubota, but I shopped around. John Deere's insurance was cheaper, but did not cover as much as Kubota's. Besides if anything happens to my tractor I trust Kubota to fix it. If the insurance is anything like the tractor I will not be disappointed.

I did that and the inland policy was over 3x the price that Kubota charges and Kubota covers far more.

Awful insurance! My BX25 was in a EF-5 tornado where 160 lives where lost on May 22, 2011 and I am still stuck with a salvage non-running tractor sitting in my yard leaking hydraulic fluid everywhere and the dealership refuses to fix it while the insurance company has not settled and I continue to make payments on it. Never again will I buy another Kubota. It is very unfortunate because it was a good little tractor but the service and insurance is the worst ever. Sorry.
