How long can you run a RTV 900 in four wheel drive on dry pavement before you damage or shorten the life of the machine?

Why would you want to do that on a constant basis?....I would think you'd be replacing tires before hard parts...But it aint good to do all the time. I run mine in 4wd on dry pavement between driveways sometimes, but if I'm making hard turns I turn the 4WD and Diff lock off to save the tires.

The wife jumped in the rtv and left it in four wheel drive. She drove down to the barn which is a half mile of pavement. I am not sure this is the first time.

Should take it, no problem.
Prolly has seen rougher times, and not by her. :)

If that's it...You're good to go...Forget about it.

Nope, not a big deal. it happens. Other than some tire wear (so little you wont tell) I doubt it will even phase it in the least

the rtv has a limited slip front end and if i'm not mistakin it also has a rearend unlocker right? if so your good to go the rear end being locked is whats gonna really kill them front tires. now if your front had a diferential lock on it then you would have some tire problems.

our old ('99) yamaha kodiak is full time 4wd, its really hard to drive on pavement and shows more wear on front tires even though we try to keep it on soft surfaces.

You canb run that Kubota in 4wd all the time and it's not an issue. It will turn less sharp and wear the tires a little quicker but mechanically will not be an issue. Most ATV's and SxS's (Yamaha Rhino, Polaris Rzr, etc) are the same way but have more issue due to the locked rear end.

We use RTV's at work to plow snow. Most of the time during the winter is spent in 4x4 on pavement. There have been no problems yet with the 900's having 2200+ hours and the 1100 only has 100 or so hours.
