our cub cadet attached snow thrower won't lift and the lift piston seems to be frozen, is it normal that the piston can not be pushed in manually?

What you can do for a quick check is make sure that your quick connect couplers are connected properly.As for the cylinder being able to push one in manually I don't think you can do that.Only way is if the lines are connected to the tractors hyralics and the control is on float.One other way is to remove the hose or hose ends but that could be messy [oil all over] Check to make sure the couplers are on properly I'am pretty certain thats what your problem is.
