Definitely depends on where you are located. Here in Pa in a very good year you could have 130-180 bu/acre on ground that normally only produces 80-90 bu/acre. Just to many factors involved---weather, soil conditions, weeds, insects, lime, fertilizer, and the list goes on.:)

I am assuming your asking about feild corn?

We average about 200 bu.acre. With single years farm averages well over 250.

90-225 bu per acre. Based on the total lack of info you provided to base a more specific answer on.

You have it about right. Depends on land/soil type and rainfall. Till vs no till, row spacing, amount of fertilizer, type of seed, harvesting conditions etc. Dryland corn on a bad year can yeild almost nothing. With good rain, temps, pivot irrigation etc., it can yeild almost 250 bu/acre. Farming is one of the few jobs where the farmer can do everything perfect and have almost no net income.

Not too good this year a month late planting and a cool summer has led to about 100 bus per acre...
cutting today....

I heard a couple of guys talking two years ago--they had a mega farm out west, I think it was South Dakota, anyway, they spoke in terms of 250 bu/acre corn being a kind of high water mark they strived for with their farm plan each season. But the interesting thing to me was that they said to get that kind of yield, the investment was running over $400 per acre for the year. Their father was ribbing them telling them that he had paid less per acre for the land than what they were paying each year to try and get 250 bu/acre corn.

As many have posted yields vary heavily by season, for example my neighbor rents out his fields for field corn and hay production. This past year they planted field corn but weren't able to get back into the fields for spraying, too wet, and didn't harvest any corn, just brushhoged the corn this fall. So he's out the cost of seed, fert, and initial preemergent herbicide. They had no problem with the hay, only got one cutting in.

For what its worth, you might want to consider watching ag phd on the rural farm network, lots of interesting ideas and concepts to help farmers, especially with herbicides and manufacturer rebates.

Well in the mountains of Tennesse and North Carolina they don't determine the yeild by bushels they determine it by gallons. Ha Ha
