Seafoam

Seafoam is marvelous for carbureted engines. An old Gravely developed an unevent idle. Seasfoam fixed it. This summer both my lawnmowers, one a 2 cycle Lawnboy and the other a 4 cycle JD, developed either uneven idle or "hunting" at speed. Seafoam straighted both of them out.

For fuel injected engines, either gas or diesel, Chevron Techron is probably the best to clean things up. A steady dose of a major grade of gasoline will also do it, because the majors have all had to pass BMW's very stringent fuel cleanliness test. Not sure whether they'd had to pass tests on diesels.

How does it compare to stabal for preserving gasoline?

I put it in all my 5 gal jugs before filling them (incl 2 stroke and diesel). I also use it once a month in the motorcycle (1983 Venture). I put PS white bottle in the diesel jug bef filling too. Our gas has been E10 since MTBE was outlawed. Diesel is ULSD.

I never drain the carbs on any ICE after use or the bike before winter. Never had a fuel/carb prob in anything. The chainsaw and weedwacker are both 18+ year old factory remans (Poulan) with absolutely no maintenance of any kind with the exception of chain and string. Lawnmower's a 2003 Toro, snowblower's a 1973 Ariens. Everything always starts when I need it, summer or winter. Oh, and the 1979 tractor in the unheated garage will start in the winter w no extra heat. Doesn't smoke or rattle excessively when cold either. I'm still gonna install a heater of some type though.

Snake oil? Maybe, maybe not, dunno. But it certainly isn't hurting anything.

I use Seafoam for when an engine isn't running right (rough idle, stalls, etc.)

I use Stabil in the gas for all my gas engine items where the fuel may sit for a while either in the can or the fuel tank (chain saws, generator, 4 wheelers, etc.) I used to have a lot of chainsaw carb problems but those went away since I started using Stabil. I use the two products for different purposes.

I have used seafoam for years..Then I tried Amsoil powerfoam. That will clean an intake 4X better then seafoam..Seafoam was okay at best when it was about $4 a can..Now over $8 at Chinamart...ya right.

I have for years added 1 oz per gallon to my last can of gas for the season so all my outdoor power equipment has some run thru before winter.I belive it states on their website it is a good fuel stabilizer.I started using the it years ago in my BMW motorcycle's[had to hunt for it then] I've heard a lot of claims over the yr's about all the good it does but I can say nothing great has happened to my equipment, but then nothing can be a good thing.After all thats what premenative mainetance is keeping repairs in check.

seafoam has been good to me. use it in my old BMW 275kmiles,smooths the idle. have used it in my old mercury 20yrs old outboard. my outboard sits for months without running. a couple of table spoons in the carb bowl. starts right up. use it in my portable generater ,too,to stablilzie the old fuel.

it's one of the few good 'snake-oils' out there IMHO.
