Processor Speed

The UCA 202 was a great suggestion. Thank you very much.

So far, Kristal audio engine appears to work better with my setup than the other two. It imported my audio tracks without any problems, doesn't seem to have latency issues and immediately worked with the UCA 202.

I got one setting on my desk right beside my computer... decent cheap usb audio card.,

it's rare that something is both decent and cheap these days..

I just thought I would throw out that my favorite benchmark software is the passmark performance test. I know it's been a few weeks but it the OP still has both computers, download and run this on both and keep the faster one.

The passmark test breaks down the performance of CPU, memory, HD, video, etc. So look at the individual scores and determine what is important. For example my system scores about 1100 and my brothers scores about 1300 overall. But mine is faster at browsing, applications, etc. His is a gaming PC so his video performance bumps his way up and mine way down but mine scores higher in all the other categories.

is his a 64bit os and yours a 32bit.. I've seen that make differences too.. gamers seem to prefer the 64bit.. but regular stuff seems to not benefit from it.. sometimes hindered by it..

they are both 64 bit vista pro

his is a little slower processor, less memory, and slower HD, but way better graphics card which is enough to give him a better overall rating, but individually, my memory, HD, and CPU are faster.

I have a AMD x4 9500 as to his intel e7400, I have 8gb memory to his 6gb and a 10000rpm HD to his 7200. But I only have the built in graphics and he has a gamer pc with it's own card, but I don't know what it is.

The OP (ummm, that's me) already gave the Dell to someone who needed it. I couldn't see an appreciable difference in the two machines I was comparing when I ran multiple Office apps on them....and that is most of what I use a PC for. I just ran the passmark software on this machine....it scored 500. I don't know of course what the Dell would have scored.
