compair atom n 450 and tegra 3 processor ?

anyone know of a way to compair performance ?

for instance my old netbook uses a n450 ( dual core i think ) and 1.6ghz processor and my new tablet uses a tegra 3 quad core /1.3 ghz

i know back in the old dinosaur days we did flop/stone comparison of processor hp.. what the standard today.. adn anyone know of a comparison between the 2 architectures?

If you lucky you can where someone like PC Mag ran their standard tests and compare the results. Today comparing one brand to another based on # of processors and clock speed is apples to oranges. We find it's hard to compare an Intel to an AMD just based on description.

Looks like CPUBoss has tested both:
Intel Atom N450
Nvidia Tegra 3 (T30)

I usually use Passmark ( PassMark - Intel Atom N450 @ 1.66GHz - Price performance comparison ) but they dont have the Tegra.

There are some web benchmarks -- sun spider comes to mind -- that you can run in a browser on each device. Now, that also tests browser and javascript performance, so it's not straight hardware. But that's a good way for general comparison. I have also seen hardware benchmarks run on iPhones, PCs, Macs, and Android devices, so there must be apps out there you can get for each device. The Anandtech website does a lot of this.

thanks for the info guys.

I figured you couldn't just compair cores and speed, due to the architecture difference.

a while back I was looking at the differences int he core 2 duo vs the i3,5 and 7 and was amazed at how much hp the new processors pick up.. even at lower speeds.

my take in the atom is basically a low hp x86 type deal.. and the tegra is more of an all in one processor with video and other goodies..
