Visited the shop today. They're almost ready to paint the cab.

It's really going to look nice with that color!

Are you going to put any chrome on it ?

I can't wait to see when they get it finished!

Keep us posted.

Except for the chrome exhaust stack and new cab lights that I added, about the only bright parts will be the stainless steel mirrors that were added years ago and the nameplates that go on the hood. I may install Alcoa wheels but that's as far as it'll go. I'm trying to keep it as original as possible.

What a great looking truck. I'm glad to read you are keeping it as original as possible and I can't wait to see the pics when it is done.

I'm seeing red now! They've painted the cab and buffing it out now. The bedliner (Superliner) has been sprayed on the bed. They should be spraying the rest of the truck sometime today.

The color will look very nice with the chrome, and i agree with you on trying to keep it original:cool:

The painting is finished. It'll be moved to the prep area to install headlights, trim, glass, stack and cab lights. I should be able to pick it up by next Tuesday.

Better pictures today. They were busy installing lights, mirrors and trim and doing more buffing on it. Even though they had done a good job of masking off the engine it still had overspray on it so they are going to paint it. It really looks better in person than in a picture. The paint is deeper red than what it show. Really didn't want to leave it, won't be back over to see it again until Monday.

Checked on the truck this morning. They're masking it off to paint the engine. Had some overspray on it and they won't release it until they correct it. The windshield and back glass will be installed today and that should finish the job. I should be able to pick it up tomorrow.

Jesse:

That is just too cool for school, I love it. In some ways it's going to be too pretty to use; but in others ways I'm glad it won't be a trailer queen. I like the oil field bed on it and can hardly wait to see the headache rack with winch installed.

4Shorts up in Newfoundland needs to see this since he does lots of restoration work. He just tricked out a Toyota lift truck that most people, myself included would have given up for the junk yard.

JESSE1 that is one nice looking rig you have there. It's so nice to see someone go through all that work to make it live again and have it look and done right. I know the amount of work, trouble, frustration and expense that can be involved in a project like that but believe me it's worth it. The pleasure you will get from the completed project will last you for years. A few years back I helped my older brother restore a old Mack B-61. It was a big beautiful beast and we had a ball restoring the old girl.

It looks like the body shop you picked was a good choice. They appear to do some very nice work. I have an old 1920's tanker truck waiting in the wings for me to restore so I hope to eventually start at that.

Good luck with that beautiful rig. Like the rest of us I truly enjoyed viewing it and seeing it's progress. Keep the pics coming. Tip my lid to you sir!

Note: Thanks Matt AKA mjncad for the heads up on this thread. I would have missed it only for you. I'm into the busy season on this end so I don't get over here as much as I would like to. Much appreciated. Paul
