Hello first time poster...

I have a new JD 2720 and I can not for the life of me reconnect a hydraulic hose.. Any tips on how to do this? I made certain that I released the pressure. It seems as easy as using an air compressor attachment but I just can't pull it hard enough to connect to the male hose..

Welcome to TBN:D

I will assume you mean your have trouble reconnecting your FEL, if so-what happens is that pressure build up on the loader cylinders/hoses after you remove it from heat/sun, and then causes the problems your having.

The best solution is to wrap a rag over the end (QD for Quick-Disconnect) and either press it against the frame of the loader or tap it with a hammer to relieve the pressure...it won't take much.

What type of female connector do you have? Is there a sleeve you have to pull back and then push the male connector into. I've found it difficult as well to be able to hold the sleeve back and then push the male end in straight. The more I do the easier it gets. Remember there is going to be pressure on both sides. In pinch I've taken and loosened the connectors to let the pressure off. You can also take push the ball on the male end against something to let the pressure off. I sometimes have to brace the female end against something to help with holding the sleeve back, while push the connectors together.
I was thinking of having a friend make a tool that you could use to grip the sleeve and hold it back while you push the connectors together.

Thank you, guys for your help.. I haven't even used the tractor yet! lol

It's in the barn and no sun has been hitting it. I had to take off the bucket because I am having deleivery of my snow blower tomorrow. The hose I am trying to re-connect is to the mid mower which I unattached by mistake.

Still not able to get the male and female hose to connect and wish there was a tool.. But I am also a newbie..

Same theory I described above. Turn the tractor off, move joystick around to relieve pressure, and do the rag thing I mention above.

Thanks Kenny... That worked..

I work on computers for a living so all of this is new for me. Thanks again!

I did spill some Hydraulic fluid in the process because the end of the hose was lose which I had to tighten the male end down.. If that makes any sence..

If you find yourself without a rag, and hammer etc. you can also while firmly pushing the connector on, move the joystick around which will relieve the pressure and the coupling will slip on. Of course do this with the tractor turned off

Holy cow, does this guy have four hands and arms. My hands are full when I'm trying to push the two connectors together, how do you reach 10' to wiggle the joystick around at the same time? Or was he talking about pushing the ball on the male end against something while moving the joystick?

It sound's like you fixed your problem. Believe me after a few 100 times it'll become simple and you wont even think about it. If they are stuck or pressurized you'll just go through the process and hook em up. Hmm snow blower in July? Are you south of the equator?

O heck no! I am not wanting summer to go by any time soon! I have a new 2009 Harley Davidson this year. I bought the snow blower because I lived out at my place for years and only had a shovel to remove the snow. The reason I brought it up is the snow blower is being delieverd this morning at 9am. Thanks again for all the help guys!

BTW I am now poor!
