Tractor
JD 3520 eHydro, Cab
Buying a JD 3520 series machine. One of my coworkers gave me a hard time about not buying New Holland as we get a discount with them. He said the JD and NEw Holland tractors come down the same assembly line.

I an not sure where JD manufactures their 3000 series tractors but I find it hard ot believe that JD and NH share any assembly line.

Anyone know where the respective compamies build their compact tractors?

Thanks

Tony

The 3520 is manufactured in Augusta, Georgia.

New Holland does manufacture some of the Boomer tractors in Dublin, Georgia.

Perhaps the Georgia connection is what makes your friend think they are assembled on the same line???

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Manufacturers have something called tolerances. John Deere's are very high.

Sears used to have high tolerances at one time but I don't know about now. Let's say Sears sells a blender and Wally World sells the same blender but a lot cheaper. What you get is a better blender from Sears that lasts longer even though both blenders come from the same plant because the Sears has tighter criteria and sometimes better parts and they make the manufacturer hold to them.

I've been inside my John Deere tractors. They are top shelf and I know a lot about machines. New Holland may be great I don't know the tractor but most times you get what you pay for. John Deere costs more because it delivers more. They don't hype their stats and in most cases they low ball them. They're known to under rate HP for instance.
My advice, if you can afford a Deere then buy one. We have farmers around here running these things for years with very few problems. John Deere isn't suffering even with the economy in trouble, they have a reputation and they're smart enough to keep public opinion high by keeping quality high.

That's my two cents.

I did buy an 09 Deere 3520 Enclosed cab, MMM, 300cx, front blade, balast box.

Should take delivery by mid month. Looking forward to the green machine.

Thanks

Then how come Case and Newholland arent sold at the same dealer? Around here, Newholland and branson are partners, case is alone, johndeere and jcb are partners, and kubota and asv are partners.

I know of a dealer that sells JD and Kubota, they used to sell Case also but I don't know if they still do.

Did you notice the chevrolet dealers don't sell gmc trucks ( dah.. same manufacturer ) Its called a dealer system and sales areas. I don't think you will ever see Harleys, Yamahas, and Kawasaki's sold under the same roof either.

As for the larger compacts I feel NH has the superior tractor. Its all in what your happy with. As in 855 Idiot's case... would you buy a tractor from them if they couldn't diagnose a simple engine problem and tell the customer a low hour machine is salvage ? They are all machines with moving parts that one day will give up and break.

Assembly and manufacture are two different worlds. Neither NH or deere are manufactured in the USA, and they never will be. Assembly is more for tax and shipping breaks. Bragging rights in some cases telling the customer.... " your buying an american made product " even though they know the statement is false. Harley Davidson in the early 90s had to quit advertising as the " american made motorcycle " due to foreign components.
The moral of the story is buy what makes you feel is the best application , product for your purpose and save for the rainy day when it requires parts / repair. You won't be disappointed.

We sell Case and New Holland under the same roof... and Kubota.

There is no absolutly no tie between Branson and New Holland. The only reason they would sit on the same lot is if the dealer sells them both.

This stuff is ASSEMBLED in GA, its Manufactured in Japan.

That is not true. Deere sources all of its parts from all over the world and only the engine is made in Japan. Most of the other stuff is made from venders in the USA. I will agree the tractor is assembled in GA but includes world wide parts.

Case, Kubota, NH
Your speaking of two foreign tractor manufacturers. They would love to have 25 different makes under one roof complete with stocking parts.
You notice I referenced Chevrolet and Harley .........
As the economy continues there may be alot of dealerships available with less restrictions.

Yea it is, If you take a look at the name plate on the tractor. It says "Made in Japan" right on it. Its also listed on the website.

My JD 3320 tractor name plate with S/N says Assembled in USA, the tractor name plate makes no mention of being made anywhere. The engine name plate with the engine S/N says Yanmar made in Japan, the backhoe sticker with S/N says made in USA, the FEL sticker with S/N says made in Canada, the big cast post parts of the FEL have the word China cast into them. I believe the hydro drive pump is made by Sauer-Danfoss in Germany. The US company I work for has in times past made (in the US), and still may make the plastic used in the fenders, hood, and assorted parts of the tractor. I do not know where the actual fenders and such are formed (made?).

I do not know what legally makes something made somewhere, and I do not know what legally qualifies as being assembled somewhere either. What I can say is that in layman's terms the JD 3x20 series is not made or assembled in any one location. But I do suspect that the first person to sit on the finished product and drive it to the loading dock eats boiled peanuts and loves them.

That is NOT true. My plate says MFG'd by John Deere Moline ILL. The plate you are talking about is for the engine NOT the serial number plate. It is bad business to try to bad mouth others equiptment to try to make a inferior product look equal IMO.

Where is the link to the website??

You cannot argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Anyone with a Deere can go to their tractor and see who is right.

Then how come Case and Newholland arent sold at the same dealer?

For the same reason cars from a same manufacturer but from different divisions are often not sold at the same dealership (example: Pontiac/Buick vs Chev/Olds), to disallow direct comparison. It's better business practice for one to avoid competing with oneself especially when models sold under two different brands are identical.
