Wish I had some action shots but just to many things going on when you've got a tanker on the back of the tractor pumping poop out in a 30 ft arc. Hauled five loads this morning, the tanker I believe is 2500 gal. Was good stuff from older pigs:), really helps the corn and soybeans get off to a good start. The manure is from my neighbors hog barn and the tanker belongs to him.

Did you check to see if any of the neighbors had wash drying on the clothes line before you started to spread? When I was growing up, it always seemed like our neighbor made sure that my mother had clean clothes drying before firing up the honey wagon full of hog manure! Complete coincidences, I'm sure. Nothing to do except re-wash it or put up with the smell.

Oleozz,

Congrats!!! I wish I had access to some of that stuff. How many acres were you able cover with that tank? or how much per acre are you putting down? I have ten acres that I'm working towards getting ready to plant this spring and I'm dreaming of a tanker like that showing up at my place.

Last night while driving home from a refloxology appointment I started to smell pig manure about a mile from our place. I was thinking, "Man, I hope that's not from our fields." Thank goodness it wasn't, my neighbor was out spreading.
While hauling the tanker yesterday I drove past our Amish neighbor, she was hanging out wash. About every time past she gave me a big smile and friendly wave, at least I think she was waving.:)
I think Eddie for corn coverage you can put down about 5 to 7 thousand gal per acre. I did soil samples early spring so had a fair idea of what the soil needed. I do know that I have some ground that needs lime and that will be put on late summer, a local company will haul that in and spread it.
I am very fortunate, I have a neighbor who took time out of his busy day to get me started hauling and he is always like that, and a good friend, also a farmer, who gets insulted if I don't ask him for help.

Nice. Is your tractor strong enough to drag one of those rippers behind the tank so the manure gets put subsurface? Id love to have such a setup but all the 'liquid gold' I know of in my area is spoken for + I dont think my tractor would handle the large load. Whats the gallon capacity of your tank and how many acres / tank do you get?

I try to disc the liquid manure in soon after spreading, usually within two or three hours. Big problem is the liquid makes the ground slippery so it's hard to get traction on the hills. For that reason I waited until this morning to disc in, also takes care of most odor problems. The tractor is 145 pto hp, I pull an 18 ft IH disc behind it. The tank is about 2500 gal. so I got about a 1/2 acre per tank.
