Boy I need to let you all know, I just received a new receiver hitch from Harry at BXpanded.com for my BX25 and I need to say that this hitch is PERFECT and what a great fit and less than 10 seconds to install. You sure can't go wrong purchasing anything from Harry at BXPanded.

It slips right on over the frame below the rear PTO and the pin goes in the hole where you would attach a trailer.

The reasons mine is the way it is...............I have both pin and ball hook ups. And the hitch was so low that nothing I had was level. This arrangement raises the hitch bar about 2" which worked well for my implements; especially my sprayer.

As for the ingots, lead is getting hard to come by.

I wanted something that I could pick my trailer up off its jack and move it around so built one that attaches to the 3pt. Actually just got it together yesterday so haven't tried it out yet. I did stick an 8 ft length of square tube into the receiver and went and stood on the outer end and nothing gave at all so I think it will be strong enough to move my trailer around empty.
I got the receiver off an old truck for free so really only out of pocket for the lift arm pins and a couple of feet of angle iron.

i did mine more or less like kevinj's only it sticks out farther. i sticks out just to the point you can still mount the backhoe with nothing in the reciever. that gives you more clearance before your towed vehicle rubs the rear tires on sharp turns.

then i have different receiver inserts for ball or tow hole set ups that i can use for trailers, sprayers, etc. if i want to use a strap, just insert loop of strap in reciever and use the pin to secure the loop. instant and safe tow strap.

for lifting, i have a receiver mounted on the FEL that will even move my big 20' car hauler if I'm careful and have a little ballast on the back of the tractor. wouldn't try it on a hill, but flat kansas ground is no problem. lighter trailers move with ease.

i will have to check out bxpanded to see what else they might have....

Stuarth, doesn't that arrangement put a lot of rotational force on just that one pin, and wouldn't that cause the whole hitch mechanism to tip downwards, as opposed to a situation where, say, there are two vertical pins, one behind the other? Also, what is the rated hitch weight for the hitch?

I'm not Stuart but I can answer:
The hitch incorporates structural members other than the pin, that prevent rotation in any plane. The pin prevents the hitch from pulling off the back. The hitch capacity is limited by the tractor's stated towing capacity.

I bought a Reece reciever and bolted it to my frame. Don't remember the part number but it bolts to a pickup's step bumper. It was less than $40. Remove the crossover plate, use a Dremel to elongate the back two holes, the front two fit perfect, used stock bolts. You don't have to remove it to reinstall BH.

I use my BX for several differant things. I've got an 18' dual axle car hauler I carry it on, built wood rail sides and front, and when I get there I unload and hook to it and it's a hayride. I've had as much as 700 lbs tounge weight, 6,000 lb trailer weight and it went up and down hilly gravel driveways forward and backward in low range 2wd no problem.

And you have to remove your rops to make the train?

If I go through a low spot the ROPS will hit the roof of the first coach.
