430 Loader getting looser

Really ?, or maybe the paint just cracked for no reason at all.

The loader does not fit on the mount tight anymore. Something either got larger, or smaller.... You pick...

Besides the paint on older chevies....;)... Most paint does not crack uless it has water under it (rust) or the metal bends.....

But maybe I am wrong... Why don't you tell me....

Water gets into sharp edges all the time as well as through weld seams or a scratch. I once spent an afernoon looking for a crack that wasn't there because water got under the paint and lifted it. Sure looked like a crack.

I can remember when I bought the tractor and test operated it. The dealer showed me how to remove the bucket and loader. I can remember how tight everything was and how you had to line everything up just so. His remark was that it would loosen up with use.
Well it's loosened up a little too much in my view. I even still have the brochure from JD showing how they test the loaders on this big machine that simulates wear and tear.
I think that JD knows that these loaders wear unusually soon on that front contact point.
Why would they have come up with the shim kit?
Did they sacrifice ease of on and off for durability?

Personally, I think it's one of those instances where the engineer grew up in Chicago and knows little of actual agricultural application. He knows metal for sure and knows what is supposed to happen from tests. He has the math down pat. Along the way, unfortunately, it didn't work the way the book said it would.
So we get shims.

Ok Jack...
maybe, just maybe, it's just because the paint was to thick to begin with and nothing more then that.

Why you trying to making a mountain out of a mole hill ?
