RTV500 Exhaust ?

I have a new RTV500 with about 4 hours on it and I have noticed a strong exhaust smell from it that seems to come up from between the front of the cargo box and the rear of the cab. I guess this is just the exhaust burning off some sort of coating but wondered if this was common to smell this much exhaust smell?

While seated in the cab I haven't noticed the strong smell your describing. If I lift up the cargo bed with the engine running I get strong exhaust fumes but otherwise unless you had some strong wind that might be blowing it back to you I would get it checked out. How is your unit as far as the rattle noise? I stopped by my dealer yesterday and he told me that he has gotten in units that don't make the rattle. Hope you got one of those. I really like the 500 its a lot of fun to operate.

Keeping my fingers crossed about the rattle noise........nothing so far! Might have been a little Tail Wind causing the exhaust smell....but I am going to watch it and see if it continues, probably take a closer look at the exhaust piping and make sure all is well. I love the 500, and my wife has actually put most of the time on it!

I have that smell too...Probably just paint & stuff burning off...Smelled that before on new stuff...Besides who know what this "environmentally friendly" paint is made of, emu livers?

enjoy the new smell it soon goes away . there's always a nice smell to a new atv/utv the smell the engine makes and the smell of the plastic and the new rubber tires and everything else new.
