need overhaul kit for Perkins engine

Any MF dealer can get Perkins parts. This guy in Syracuse NY came highly recommended.
Mabie Brothers Inc.

I second that, dad has gotten stuff from them for his MF in the past and they are professionals with fast shipping.

Thanks

no letters at the end? are you looking at the "engine" serial number? i'm not a massy man so don't know for sure, but my book shows engine kits for a few ad3-152 perkins but the serial numbers end with letters.......

It is in a MF 231 it is an AD3. 152 engine according to the specs in the manual

Not that I could help much but I have the exact same engine in a MF 30e Industrial TLB. I had a heck of a time getting running last fall so when you get to that if it won't run I have a lesson plan.
Somewhere I saw a picture of where the SN are on Perkins engines on . On the 152 it is just foward of the lift pump on the right side It is cast in and very hard to read a really bright light helps and then C and E are hard to tell apart but in that same picture I think it listed the ranges so you can tell if you have aletter wrong. I will look for the picture.

For some reason When anyone has looked up the MF231 for parts it does not list anything. I have a local auto/ag parts store I like to deal with on everyday stuff but he could not get any help from his dist. to find any information. I found a site Foley industrial Engines (see if I can get the link) They have some good tech tips. One told you exactly where to find the serial numbers on the various Perkins engines. I e-mailed the serial number to them and they responded that the number was a good number. They would not quote prices unless I call them though. They claim to have " the most complete kits".Foley Marine & Industrial Engines
I also talked to a guy I know to see if he could give me a hand and he deals with a local machine shop that also does a lot of diesel overhauls and they are having a hard time getting the info from the numbers I have giving them. So it has been challenging to get a good comparison and even a ballpark cost estimate for the overhaul job. See my post under MF owning/ operating for my visit to the dealer the other day.

The Foley website has that picture and you are exactly right.

Foley is REALLY expensive . This is embarrassing but I paid them $130 for a lift pump that I think other people have for $30.

Thanks for the info. I am rebuilding it because of a sudden and large amount of blow by. I am guessing I broke a ring or something. And it is in a MF 231

I would be having it carefully tested before tearing into it , for two reasons . 1/ It may be something simple like fuel leakage into the crankcase causing blowby from hot diluted oil . 2/ If you do'nt find the cause first , it could do the same thing after being rebuilt . Check all the easy things first , engine ventilation system , diluted oil , blocked muffler , contaminated Diesel etc etc .

Thanks Iron Horse . I talked with the MF dealer and he also said it could be a blown head gasket or something less. I kinda feel like the engine got dusted but the all of a sudden stuff just has me wondering.

WOW are they ever expensive! I called them to find out just how "complete" their kits are. They are proud of their stuff for sure.
