Can you tell me the cost for a soft cab installed. Thank you.
It cost me about $3000.00 installed with wiper and heater, and overhead switch panel. It may cost you more or less depending who your dealer is. It may seem expensive but here in northern maine, where it can get very cold and windy, it sure is nice to be able to snowblow my driveways in only a flannel jacket and sweatpants.....:)

More info about the step. Is the insert from another application ? It looks too good to be hand made. A press had to be involved. Where did you find it ? Nice cab but I can buy alot of glass and tubing for 3k. Some nice examples in the build it section.

The step itself came off another john deere tractor, one of the 3000 series (can't remember which one) it only cost $25.00. Yes for some this may be expensive , but the step surface is grooved so when you have mud or snow on your boots you don't land on your kester! The rest of the step I fabricated myself. The cab may be expensive but that is for the complete unit installed and delivered. If you were to price the items seperately, the heater cost $375.00, the overhead switch panel about $275.00 The overhead lights and a rear light were another $100.00. So that leaves $2250.00 for the cab. Everything was installed and working when it got home. When you have to design and build a cab you have a lot of time involved designing and fabricating. I figured that by the time I bought all the tubing, glass and seals plus many other little items one never thinks about, it wasn't such a bad deal. After all my time is worth something and we all know that there is no John Deere dealership that works for free. I just came in from snowblowing my yard, the temperture was -20 with a 17 mph wind...... I was nice and toasty warm, wearing only a flannel jacket and sweatpants. No amount of money can buy you warmth on these cold miserable days. When you spend that kind of money on a tractor, I wanted something that looked nice and worked well, after all you only live once. Some of us are lucky enough to drive one of these green tractors, while others can only dream of owning one! :)

That step is cool! I just had to look at JDParts under the 3320 tractor:

R152999 STEP ADD 17.99 USD

I am gonna get one for that price.

Just seen this post, this is my second year snowblowing with my 2305. I do three driveways and froze my butt off last year got a good deal on a curtis hard cab from my dealer, with heater for 3100.00 installed. Like you said no amount of money can buy warmth, it also makes owning and operating this tractor a whole lot more fun. also I like your step and just ordered one. One question I can't tell if you have a fan I'm getting one, I've had a problem at times fogging up the windshield my father was a heavy equipment operator and he tells me most all the machines he operated had fans to eliminate the fogging.

In reply to your question,I do not have a fan to help circulate the warm air from the heater, thus far the heater has been doing a pretty good job so far. But now that you mention it I just might install one (I did have a little fogging on the windshield the last couple of times I went out. Any good suggestions where to pick one up? I also lowerd my heater mount on my 2320 so that I could install a chute deflector cable above the heater (I replaced the clear lexan panel with a piece of 3/16 steel and painted it JD Green, drilled a hole for my cable and reinstalled the steel filler panel. Looks like it came factory:cool:

I was just looking at burdens surpus supply website and found these fans for a great price. You might want to use this in your cab! www.surpluscenter.com

I'm going to check with my dealer on the fan he's been pretty good so far with pricing on anything I've wanted.I didn't notice the chute deflector before that looks pretty handy I'll add that to my list for next winter. My heater is located on my left side so all I should have to do is drill a hole in my cover.

just remember that you have to lower your heater bracket 2 inches so that you will have room to operate the cable. I cut my bracket off with a dremel tool and fibre disk. Then I choose to have a stainless steel bracket made that wrapped around the heater. (the old method of mounting the heater was kind of flimsy);)

Dale, the step like yours i ordered just came in. Was the flat stock you used to bolt it to 1-1/2 by 1/4''. I've got two bolts in my floor I can use to connect a frame to it without doing any welding on the tractor.

Can't remember exactly what size I used but I think it was 2" by 3/8". I used the 3/8 only because I am a stocky guy and tend to always overbuild things I make. I believe I used 2" because I wanted the sides to be a little taller than the step, I also rounded off the ends of the steel so that I don't hurt myself (and it looks more professional too) I used stainless steel bolts to bolt it all together, so if I ever want to take it apart I can;)
