Bought a 5425 With Cab

a flail mower is more like a rough cut mower than a finish mower, the main diff is it won't throw stuff out as much as a rotary cutter. unless you need to cut near people or along a road side I'd cancel the flail and get rear finish mower.

You read my mind!

I canceled and am getting a rear grooming mower!

Can't wait (can't sleep either) until they deliver this puppy! My closest neighbor has kindly offered to put the tractor in his barn until I get mine built. He says with a grin, "I'll be the talk of the town!" He just bought a New Holland as his friend owns a dealer.

What came in second place for me?

The New Holland really impressed me. The layout, the feel, the price was great...The dealer I visited also sold Kubota and he kept steering me back to the Kubota...which came in third place.

I really like the "look" of the Kubota and they appear to handle well...I just couldn't get my head around the ergonomics of the machine.

News Flash...bought a Yamaha 700 ATV. Camo model to match my Gator!

Also, got offered a 2009 Silverado 2500 Diesel Crew Cab with 4WD and a Long Bed for 30,000 out the door. GM's stimulus just might be mine as well!

Thanks again all!

No, no lottery for me: lotteries are the most efficient tax on the poor ever invented!

I have been planning this adventure for some time. With the downturn in the economy, it just made sense to shut down the business and take the plunge into farmer John territory.

Everything is on sale and with 0 % financing, it is rather silly to tie up my capital in equipment when I can get close to 7 % in gov't backed securities (Ginnies and Fannies).

I hit the big five-donut (50) this past year and if I don't do it now, I probably never will.

I have just begun to shop!

I've been informed that the 5425 and all the implements should be ready next week. My neighbor tells me I can house everything in his barn until I build my own. I believe I will have something built within 90 days--however there is a beautiful gambrel roofed old style barn just down the road that has not been used / abandoned for a few years. It's solid and may be had for a price far less than a new build. Will see.

Banging away on the old 1920 farm house, removing layers and layers of plywood and linoleum on the floors--and the walls!

Found some beautiful pine floors, bead-board walls and ceilings, and have uncovered fireplaces in every room of the house. A structural engineer tells me the house is in great shape with only some minor electrical updates for safety necessary.

Been there about 12 hours a day and have exhausted my supply of Advil.

I have not slept this good in years.

Good to hear that things are comin' together for ya. Couple of those fireplaces might work out just fine helpin' to thin the trees out on those 100 acres, too!

Lookin' forward to your pics!

Wow, that is beautiful and you are a fortunate man. You could use a second set of rear weights and a front-end "starter" weight to hold it down. I have a 5520 no cab and needed the above added weight, especcially the rear ones.

Congratulations and have fun--which includes more photos.

Sweet setup!! It's obvious that your dealer isn't spending his profits on nice new trailers! ;)

I like the FEL lights. I'm thinking about adding those to my tractor. Let us know how they work! That is a very nice tractor. You'll find a million and one uses for the grapple too. Time to put her to work!

Real nice! You got about eveything you should need. Those lights are very nice as well. I have seen them some other tractors, but they are attached to the tractor, not the loader. They look like they will really light things up as well. Let us know how that cab works out for you, comfort, etc. Some more pictures would be nice as well. Enjoy!

I've put about 8 hours on the new 5425 and have gone through about 15 gallons of Hydo fluid.

In a way it was my fault in that when I found one coupling leaking, I should have checked them all.

Other than that, so far so good. I've been so busy with the grapple bucket and the bush hog, I have yet to try out the finish mower or the tiller!

More photos on the way!
