Either my L4400 3 point hitch is too dinky, or my SQ172 is too robust. I only have about 1/2" clearence per side to fit my hitch arms on to the hitch pins. Needless to say, it has to be perfectly aligned to hitch it up. There's no sense in that. Wonder who messed up, Kubota, or Bush hog? (I'm betting BH).

The BH hitch pins are pointing to the outside, and I was thinking about flipping them inside to gain about 2" of space. Has anyone tried that? Are there any traps that will only make things worse?

Many thanks,,,

Haven't done it to a Bush Hog product, but I had to do it on my 75" snow blower and it hasn't created any problems for the last 2 winters.

I have that same problem with my new L4400 and my Howse 6' rotary cutter, also with my Howse 6' box blade and my King Kutter disc. I have made it much easier on myself by getting a $79 quick hitch like I posted about in another thread here.

The hog may be adaptable to cat 1 or cat 2. When I got mine it was set for cat 1.5. Part was set for cat1 and part for cat2. I had to get out the impact and manual to get it to all cat 1. I'd bet that is a real possibility on your cutter.

John,

Unless I remember it wrong, the BH is very simple, and other than flipping the lift pins around, there is no adjustment.

I wonder if BH intentionally kept it wide between the pins for smoother mowing? It sure does mow nice and level, and doesn't scalp when I turn corners.

I flipped the pins to face in on my 5' kingkutter since facing out the lower lift arms were close to the tires not leaving much room for sway without hitting them. It has worked fine for 3 years now so I wouldn't hesitate to flip the pins inward on yours.
