YM 1075 control valve freezes

It was 16' yesterday morning. Machine started fine but the fel control valve was stuck. The guy I bought it from said this would happen and then thaw after 15 minutes of idling. Sure enough it did. Any advice on correcting the problem would be appreciated.

At 16 deg. I would not even be on my tractor. Are you sure it's freezing up ? could be that the hyd. oil just needs to get a little warm to start flowing at 16 deg. You may have a little moisture in the hyd. system... Try changing the hyd. oil & make sure you install JD 303 or equivalent

You might have moisture (condensation) in your system, next time try to warm it up slightlyy with a heat gun, it should free it up.

Thanks, I agree 16' is too darn cold. I replaced all the fluids and filters this summer. The hydraulic fluid is sluggish AND the joystick is frozen. The heat gun thaws it OK. It's a Kontac control valve. Under the boot there's a plate holding the stick in. Will I run into trouble if I pull this part of the valve? Hoping I could warm it up and soak up water with a sponge...

I agree it sounds like a moisture problem. I would suggest that, when it is freed up, you spray all the external pieces of the control valve with silicone spray. This will displace the moisture and keep it from freezing. If the problem is inside the system, then you will need to add one unit of gas line antifreeze to the trans Hydra fluid.
