What compact and small utility tractors are made in the USA?
I think the 4000 and 5000 series john deers are made in Augusta, Georgia. What about New Holland or Case-International or MF or McCormick tractors, talking 40 to 50 hp range.

Perhaps you might want to use the search function and see how many times this question has been asked before. There are some fine answers, and then there are mine. ;)

Power Trac tractors like mine are built by American workers in a factory in Tazewell, VA. However, they use Subaru and Deutz engines, as well as some foreign hydraulic parts. But all the design, welding, cutting, fabrication, etc... is done there.

I do not think you will be able to find any tractor that is 100% American made because it is a small world and a global market place.

The simple answer is none of them. No compact tractor, or tractor company is really any more red white and blue than any other.

Is Power Trac the company who began by making mining tractors and grew out from there? If memory is correct they make some neat changeable attachements and I really wonder why with landscaping people they were no more properly than they are.

Ok i have search and reviewed a lot of the old threads with no real answers to my question.
So maybe the question needs to be restated
what 40 to 50 hp tractors is mostly made in America?
from what i can tell it looks like the john deer 4000 and 5000 series.
is this incorrect?
I know this discussion is beat to death, but i think a valid question.
I bought a Kioti DK 45 with 357 hours made in south Korea for $12,000 a year ago the tractor came with a bush hog M346 front end loader which i think is made in the USA and am somewhat happy with it. I did not even look at the closest dealer which is a john deer because at the time i thought no tractor under 80 hp was made in the USA and the cost difference but now learn that maybe the john deer 4000 and 5000 series are except for the motor?

My guess is no - not an incorrect statement if by "America" you mean "the Americas" including Canada (FELs and implements) and Mexico (engines).

I don't think the 4-5000 series is made in America. Final assembly of stickers and tires, maybe. But, it is intentionally hard to find out where they are made. Because of that difficulty, I am fairly sure they are NOT made here. If they were, it would be a selling point and plastered everywhere.

Yes, they are related companies. As far as I know, they still make the mine trams. Here is a link to their latest incarnation.

If you are asking why don't more landscaping companies buy and use Power Tracs, I can give you multiple reasons: factory direct only and no dealers, variable quality control, reliability issues, manuals range from absent to horrid, etc, etc. Still, some landscaping companies do buy and use them.

Drop in on the Power Trac forum to learn all about them.

I would not worry about it. This is now a global economy, just watch CNN for 3 minutes. I read a article about 1/2 year ago and the most "American Made Truck", in the 1/2 ton class, was the Tundra. The used part origin and man hours to calculate. The Dodge was the least American made.

Yep. They started out and still do make mining equipment. The quick attach system is awesome. I can change an implement in 15 seconds without getting off of the tractor. Add about 30 seconds if the implement needs power via hydraulic hoses. Landscapers do like them. They are sold factory direct. No dealerships. If you can work on a car or lawn tractor, you can work on these yourself. I respectfully disagree. Last I knew John Deere is an American company and Kubota is a Japanese company. The difference is where the money eventually ends up.

Montana is an American company. I'm not sure where they get them from though.

John Bud has a good point, even if a tractor was 50% American they would be plastering that all over.

The used DK45 Kioti i bought for $12000 would been about another $10000 for a john deer 4320.

JD is an American company however the 5x03 series is "mostly" made in India. But what I've researched is that they have to manufacture to "American specs" or else JD won't brand them. As DiamondPilot said this is a global economy and as a side note why I believe that is a reason for why it's not just the USA's economy but the World's economy that is in the toilet. Without starting anything what I've seen on the news is that any country that does'nt/hasn't participated in the global market are the only one's that aren't affected by what's going on with the markets. Of course these few countries are still somewhat in the "dark ages:)". And back to topic each year you can see that parts will change from one country to another i.e. Mexico, then maybe Tiawan, to China, and then wherever.

Where the money ends up? Well, are Deere stocks American only? Or do they even pay dividends? Kubota in the US is a US company too. It is separate from the Canadian Kubota.

Where the money ends up?

Thats the golden question. Dividends, profits, etc are a drop in the bucket compared to whats made in investments in factories and the product itself.

This has been said before, but its very possible that buying a tractor from a foreign company can do more for the American economey than buying from a company who just happens to have their home offices here. Case in point, Kubota BX2360 vs Deere 2305.

There are no American made tractors. They are all designed and manufactured outside of US.

The only considerations these days are features/support/warranties.

JD, Kubota, Kioti, Montana, Mahindra are pretty much the same
price, +/- few thousands.

I would put JD/Mahindra in the Indian bucket, Kubota/Kioti/Montana in
the Asian (Japanese/Korean) bucket.

65HP+cab+FEL would cost 38K-44K regardless of the name or color.

I think it is too late for being patriotic. All these companies are
multinationals.

The only thing American about John Deere tractor is its name.
